Pride on the historic land

ĐBP - On the land that marked the “famous victory that shook the world,” the youth of Điện Biên are continuing the path paved by their ancestors with deep pride and a strong aspiration to rise. In the rhythm of Điện Biên province that is changing day by day, the spirit of Điện Biên Phủ remains a sacred flame that fosters the will, love for the country, and responsibility of the younger generation for their homeland and the nation.

At 7 p.m. on April 28, at the A1, Tông Khao, Him Lam, and Độc Lập martyrs’ cemeteries, the silent atmosphere was filled with warmth from the light of thousands of candles and incense sticks lit simultaneously to honor the fallen heroes. In this solemn atmosphere, nearly 800 youth union members bowed their heads before each grave, remembering and expressing profound gratitude to the fallen heroes.

Lường Thị Xuân, a student at Điện Biên Education College, expressed: “At that moment, I deeply felt the value of the peace we have today. As the younger generation born and raised on this historic land, we are more aware of our responsibility to live up to the sacrifices our ancestors made with blood and bones to build and develop our homeland.”

In addition to the candlelight tribute, during every major holiday or national event, the youth of Điện Biên actively participate in meaningful activities to show their gratitude towards the fallen heroes. These activities include paying tribute, visiting families of policy beneficiaries, activities related to historical sites, and contests on themes about President Hồ Chí Minh and soldiers. These activities not only help the present generation better understand the glorious history of the nation but also inspire and ignite a sense of pride and responsibility in youth to preserve and promote the sacred values of the country.

Nguyễn Thị Ngọc, Secretary of the Mường Ảng district’s Youth Union, shared: “We, the youth today, are always proud of the historic land where we were born and raised. The meaningful activities we participate in are not only tributes to the fallen heroes but also a way to continue and promote the patriotic tradition of our nation. As a youth union official, I understand that the spirit of Điện Biên Phủ is not just a memory, but the source of strength for each of us to live and contribute with the highest sense of responsibility.”

Nowadays, youths in Điện Biên are not only proud of the nation’s glorious history but are also deeply aware of their role and mission in the work of building and protecting the country through concrete efforts. In the 2025 Youth Month, the provincial Youth Union launched a peak emulation campaign, attracting tens of thousands of youth members to participate in meaningful activities such as: “Volunteer Saturdays,” “Green Sundays,” and summer volunteer campaigns. Many youth projects at the provincial level have been carried out, such as: building rural roads, constructing the “Happiness Bridge,” lighting up rural roads, etc. These projects not only contribute to improving infrastructure but also enhance the lives of people in remote areas.

Social welfare activities have also been implemented in each locality, targeting specific groups such as: providing free porridge for patients at district medical centers; mobilizing resources to donate thousands of gifts to the poor, disadvantaged children, families with policy beneficiaries, and those who contributed to the revolution... Through this, the spirit of sharing and responsibility of the youth to the community is reflected.

Not stopping at volunteer activities, in recent years, under the leadership of the provincial Youth Union’s Standing Board, the local youth unions have focused on launching and expanding many youth economic development and startup models. Entrepreneurship training classes, agricultural technical guidance, and product consumption connection initiatives are helping youth escape poverty and achieve legitimate prosperity in their homeland.

Đặng Thành Huy, Secretary of the provincial Youth Union, emphasized that with enthusiasm and deep pride, youths of Điện Biên are increasingly affirming their core role in all areas of social life. From community volunteer activities, building new rural areas, protecting the environment, to accompanying youth in self-reliance and entrepreneurship... each project and each task bears the imprint of youths.

“By promoting the tradition of our historic homeland and continuing revolutionary values with specific actions, responsibility, and creativity, we are determined that every official and youth member should strive harder, learn, train, spread patriotism, and ignite the aspiration to contribute to a rich and civilized Điện Biên,” he underlined.
