Fostering revolutionary ideals for young generation

ĐBP - April 30, 1975 marked a shining milestone, signifying the end of the resistance war against the U.S. and opening a new page in Vietnam’s modern history - an era of peace and national reunification. 50 years have passed, yet every time this historical event is commemorated, every patriotic Vietnamese, including the young generation, shares the same spirit, emotions, and pride in the glorious and heroic victory of the nation.

Emotionally moved and proud, hundreds of youth union members from Điện Biên Education College attended a meeting with representatives of the Điện Biên provincial Association of Veterans from Agencies and Enterprises on March 31. They shared historical knowledge of the resistance war against the U.S., the liberation of the South, and the national reunification, as part of an exchange and meeting to educate the youth on national traditions.

Nguyễn Thảo Vy, a student from the college, shared: “By participating in this talk and discussion on national history, I understand more about the sacrifices made by previous generations to gain the independent and free life we have today. I always remind myself to strive and constantly study, contributing to the development of my hometown, Điện Biên.”

For Quàng Bảo Trâm, even though she has learned and read about the historic 1975 Spring Victory and national reunification through books and documentaries, every time she hears about historical events, her emotions overflow with pride and gratitude. Bảo Trâm shared: “As a young person, I must work harder in researching history and our country, and actively participate in movements and activities organized by the youth union, school, and other organizations.”

With the theme “Building a youth generation with patriotism, revolutionary ideals, a beautiful lifestyle, and the cultural resilience of the Vietnamese people,” and in celebration of the 50th anniversary of South Liberation and National Reunification Day, the Điện Biên provincial Association of Veterans from Agencies and Enterprises has cooperated with youth organizations to organize numerous activities to educate the youth about the revolutionary traditions and foster their patriotism since late March.

At these meetings, war veterans skillfully combine the dissemination of the history of the formation and the heroic struggles of the Vietnamese Army, raising awareness of the threats posed by the hostile forces’ “peaceful evolution” and “overthrowing revolutions” strategies aimed at sabotaging the Vietnamese revolution in the new situation.

Senior Colonel Lương Đình Ngọc meets with youths at Điện Biên Education College.

Senior Colonel Lương Đình Ngọc, Chairman of the association, stated that educating the youth about revolutionary traditions is an essential task. Since 2020, the association has cooperated with schools across the province to organize dozens of dissemination and education sessions on revolutionary tradition for students. Through this activity, youth union members not only revisit the nation’s heroic traditions but also learn about the great sacrifices made by the previous generations. Furthermore, they also gain insights into the cultural values of the nation.

According to Senior Colonel Lương Đình Ngọc, today’s youths live in times of peace, and if they are not regularly educated in revolutionary ideals, it will be difficult for them to recognize their responsibilities in studying and working. Especially as the country is developing, taking care of the youth is a long-term and urgent task. Therefore, cultivating revolutionary ideals, ethics, cultural lifestyle, and enhancing patriotism and national pride among the youth is a frequent and strategic task for the revolution.

Through diversified dissemination and education activities, along with the meetings and traditional talks, the association regularly collaborates with youth organizations to organize meaningful activities such as: offering incense and candles in memory of fallen soldiers at war cemeteries; visiting and offering gifts to Vietnamese heroic mothers, families of wounded soldiers, and families with martyrs and revolutionaries. These activities contribute to creating a healthy environment for the youth to grow, nurturing gratitude and affection for the youth and students, and helping them establish revolutionary ideals, high moral standards, and a strong will to contribute to their homeland’s development.

Nguyễn Thị Ngọc, Secretary of the Mường Ảng district’s Youth Union, shared: “As I wear the youth union uniform, I am frequently involved in meetings and discussions about national history delivered by veterans. I have come to understand the sacrifices made by our forefathers for the independence and freedom we enjoy today. Remembering their efforts, we are committed to studying and contributing to the development of our communities.”

Thanks to the diverse and widespread educational efforts of the association, today’s youths are proving to be a worthy generation, continuing and promoting the revolutionary traditions of their forebears. Each year, youths of Điện Biên engage in numerous specific and meaningful activities that contribute to the community, such as offering gifts to war invalids, martyrs, and families in need; participating in the construction of public welfare projects...

Various educational institutions across the province teach youths about patriotic tradition through extracurricular activities.

In the Youth Month of 2025, local youth organizations have carried out numerous projects, such as building roads, constructing happiness bridges, and illuminating rural roads. Additionally, several social welfare activities were organized, such as offering charity porridge to patients at district healthcare centers, providing free haircuts, and mobilizing resources to donate thousands of gifts to impoverished families, disadvantaged children, and families with revolutionary veterans. These activities demonstrate the proactive and volunteer spirit of the youth and their commitment to community well-being.

Senior Colonel Lương Đình Ngọc, affirmed: “Today’s youths are fulfilling their responsibilities. However, cultivating their patriotism is essential and needs to be done consistently. Especially with the Party’s direction that “Youths are an important part, the future owners of the country,” we will continue to strengthen the traditional education activities and enhance the political and revolutionary ideals of the youth, helping them better understand their responsibility and roles. This will motivate them to strive harder in their work, study, and personal development.”
