Điện Biên holds April press briefing

ĐBP - On the morning of April 23, the Điện Biên provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Information, Education, and Mass Mobilization held the press conference in April press briefing to review media performance and provide communication guidelines for May 2025.

In April 2025, following the communication guidelines, press agencies effectively reported on current political affairs in Điện Biên province, covering key issues such as socio-economic development, national defense, and security. The media also reflected the provincial leadership’s direction and administration in implementing local political tasks, as well as the activities and achievements of various departments and levels during task execution.

Ngôn Ngọc Khuê, Deputy Head of the provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Information, Education, and Mass Mobilization, outlines communication priorities for the coming period.

In addition, the press regularly provided timely updates on significant domestic and international developments in politics, the economy, and national defense and security, ensuring that the public received relevant and useful information. The published content maintained a clear political orientation, with regular columns presented in an appealing and engaging format. News articles were in-depth and diverse, meeting the information needs of cadres, Party members, and people of all ethnic groups.

In particular, in April, press agencies effectively covered major events such as the Hùng Kings’ Commemoration Day (10th day of the 3rd lunar month), Việt Nam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21), and activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - 2025).

A leader from the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism speaks at the conference.

At the conference, leaders of the Border Guard Command of Điện Biên province informed about the flag-raising ceremony and the inauguration of the A Pa Chải Flagpole. The delegates proposed that the Điện Biên provincial Border Guard Command create favorable conditions for journalists to cover the event.

The delegates also discussed and clarified several issues reported by the press. Specifically, leaders of Điện Biên Phủ city provided information to clarify: the flooding of the provincial stadium and surrounding roads following heavy rainfall; the continued operation of an illegally constructed makeshift market on over 2,500 square meters of rice cultivation land despite official warnings; and air pollution caused by a woodworking workshop located in a residential area of Nam Thanh ward, which has seriously affected the lives of local residents.

A representative from the provincial Department of Construction provides information at the conference.

Leaders from the provincial Department of Construction and Điện Biên district provided clarification regarding an article published by the Điện Biên Phủ Newspaper titled “Promptly address irrigation water issues for Mển hamlet residents. According to the article, during the repair and expansion of National Highway 12, the construction unit widened the roadbed. However, due to site clearance obstacles, this led to disruptions in the irrigation canal system that supplies water to rice fields in Mển and Hua Ná hamlets, Thanh Nưa Commune, Điện Biên district. The report, published prior to April 10, 2025, accurately reflected existing issues and shortcomings of the project after its completion, which affected approximately 10 hectares of agricultural land in the area.

Immediately after the article was published, the Department of Construction and Điện Biên district organized a field inspection team to conduct on-site assessments and evaluate the condition of the water pipeline. Điện Biên district has since continued to propose that the project investor and construction unit work in coordination with relevant technical agencies, the Thanh Nưa Commune People’s Committee, and the Mển hamlet community to hold discussions and reach a consensus on solutions to fully resolve the issue and ensure stable irrigation water supply for local residents.
