The Điện Biên Phủ Newspaper would like to instroduce a part of the speech to our dear readers:

...Over the past century, the Vietnam revolutionary press has grown continuously, always being a pioneering force on the ideological-cultural front, accompanying the nation throughout the revolutionary journey. In wartime, journalists were warriors with pens, actively involved in the frontlines, inspiring patriotism, national unity, and never fearing hardship or sacrifice in the people and armed forces. In the period of renovation and international integration, the press continued to be the main information channel, playing an important role in guiding public opinion, inspiring creativity, and spreading the aspiration for national development.

Entering the new century, Vietnam revolutionary press coincides with our country’s entry into a new era, with a strong desire to build a prosperous and powerful Vietnam, asserting its position on the international stage. In this journey, the press plays a role ahead, paving the way, awakening creativity; it is a soft power contributing to the overall strength of the nation.

Along with the development of the press nationwide, the press of Điện Biên province has always been present in every stage of the province’s construction and development, in every movement of the local social life. The footsteps, written words, and lenses of journalists are found in every sector, every locality, and every action of the province. It can be affirmed that the press of Điện Biên has promoted its role as the voice of the Party, government, armed forces, Fatherland Front, and mass organizations; it is a reliable information channel for the people of all ethnic groups in the province, consolidating trust, guiding public opinion, and creating consensus in society. The press information is increasingly professional, reflecting in a timely and truthful manner the activities of local authorities at all levels, achievements in economic, cultural, social, national defense-security, and foreign affairs, and spreading the image of Điện Biên’s continuous renewal and development to domestic and international friends.

On this occasion, on behalf of the provincial leaders, I would like to recognize, appreciate, and praise the efforts, contributions, and valuable work of the generations of journalists - those who have, are, and will continue to accompany the development of the province, writing new pages for a comprehensive and culturally rich Điện Biên in the new era.

Congratulations to the authors and groups of authors with excellent works that won the 3rd Điện Biên Press Award - 2024. This is a deserving recognition for the efforts, creativity, and responsibilities of journalists in the shared mission.

In the era of digital technology development and extensive integration, it requires continuous innovation and creativity in content, form, and methods of journalism; at the same time, we must build and nurture a professional journalism team with strong political skills, sharp professional expertise, and high ethical standards.

For the press of Điện Biên to continue promoting its role in the new era, I urge all media agencies, journalists, reporters, editors, and collaborators both inside and outside the province to focus on implementing some key tasks:

First, always adhere to the principles, political orientation of the Party, and the province’s political tasks; reflect honestly, timely, objectively, and humanely on current political, economic, cultural, social, national defense-security, foreign affairs issues...; extensively propagate the Party’s guidelines, the state’s laws, major and urgent issues that the entire Party and the political system are focused on implementing, such as: the revolution in organizing and streamlining the political system; breakthroughs in developing science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation; amendments and supplements to some articles of the 2013 Constitution; organizing Party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress...

Second, continuously innovate content and operational methods, effectively apply digital technology; focus on developing multimedia journalism in line with modern information reception trends, transitioning traditional journalism models to digital journalism to improve quality and efficiency in information dissemination. Shift from “reflecting” journalism to “suggesting” and “solution-based” journalism to elevate the quality of press operations.

Third, every journalist, team of journalists, reporters, and editors should continuously cultivate professional ethics, maintain political fortitude, train professional skills, promote social responsibility, and fulfill the revolutionary journalism mission: objective, accurate, and for the benefit of the country and the people.

Fourth, continue maintaining and improving the quality of the Điện Biên Press Award; timely reward high-quality works and exemplary journalists, contributing to building the press of Điện Biên to become increasingly professional and modern. I ask the central press agencies based in the province, and media agencies outside the province, to continue accompanying and supporting Điện Biên in promoting political, economic, social, foreign, tourism events... and exemplary models, new ways of doing things, and good deeds in patriotic emulation movements; create consensus in society, trust among the people; spread positive information, strongly inspire the will and aspiration for a rapidly and sustainably developing Điện Biên.

The 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day is a special and meaningful milestone for journalists. This is a momentous time, marking the 100th anniversary of the first edition of the Thanh Niên newspaper founded by President Hồ Chí Minh, then known as Nguyễn Ái Quốc. This event marked the birth of the Vietnam revolutionary press, carrying revolutionary and humanistic values, always accompanying the nation through the long struggle for independence, freedom, and the construction and defense of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

With pride and optimism, we are confident that the press agencies will continue to inherit the good traditions of previous generations, promote innovation and creativity, and continue to write the glorious history of the revolutionary press, building a growing Điện Biên press that is a pioneer in the Party’s ideological and cultural work, worthy of the trust of the Party committees, governments, armed forces, and people of all ethnicities in the province.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, I wish the distinguished delegates, all journalists good health, happiness, and success; continue contributing their intellect and dedication to the revolutionary press cause and the development of Điện Biên province.
