The rapid development of information technology and social media has opened opportunities for Vietnam’s integration and growth. Yet, these platforms are also exploited by hostile forces spreading distorted claims to undermine the people’s confidence in the Party’s leadership and to sow division within the great national unity bloc.
According to Lò Xuân Hạnh, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Youth Union, before increasingly sophisticated schemes of hostile forces, youth organizations have consistently strengthened propaganda and education to raise awareness among union members. “We orient each member not only to take the lead in revolutionary movements but also to be truly pioneering in moral cultivation and political will,” he emphasized.
As Hạnh noted, youth union members are quick to adopt technology and are the main demographic active online. Therefore, across different periods, youth organizations have intensified communications about safe internet use, encouraged posting official information, and corrected cases of inaccurate or negative content sharing. Beyond raising vigilance, youth units have also directed members to spread positive stories, beautiful images, and uplifting messages within their communities.

Most grassroots youth unions now run official social media pages, particularly on Facebook, which have proven effective in sharing useful, accurate information; countering false, hostile claims; and spreading good news and real-life examples.
One notable example is the fanpage “Tuổi trẻ Công an Điện Biên” (Youth of Điện Biên Police), managed by the Youth Committee of the provincial police. This page regularly updates official information, reflects union activities, and highlights good deeds and meaningful contributions. “It serves both as an information tool and an action forum for young police officers,” said Captain Lò Văn Long, Head of the Youth Committee. Through dedicated campaigns and sections, such as videos of volunteer youth, stories of role models, and law-propagation efforts, the page encourages positive thinking and community-wide participation, while promptly countering hostile distortions.
Despite positive outcomes, challenges remain. A portion of young people still lack deep theoretical understanding and awareness of hostile schemes. In some areas, official information is not delivered promptly, and some youth have limited skills in applying technology to fight misinformation online.
To address this, young people must heighten vigilance, actively study Party theory, and equip themselves with the knowledge and skills to protect ideological foundations. Every youth union member’s social media account should serve as a positive communication channel, exposing malicious sites and confronting hostile views. At the same time, members should actively engage with official achievements, sharing, commenting, and liking posts about anti-corruption efforts, reporting fake accounts, and contributing to a transparent online environment.
With the motto “Promoting the good to drive out the bad”, the youth of Điện Biên have been at the ideological frontline: swiftly detecting, rejecting, and defeating hostile plots. As the whole nation heads toward the Party Congress, the proactive spirit, responsibility, and concrete actions of young people will stand as evidence of steadfast ideology, defense of the people’s trust, and contribution to spreading positive values, thus reinforcing the Party’s ideological foundation in the new context.
