Attending the meeting were the Secretaries of the provincial Party Committees, members of the Standing Boards of the provincial Party Committees, and leaders of the People’s Councils and People’s Committees of Lai Châu, Lào Cai, and Tuyên Quang provinces.

At the meeting, Wang Ning expressed his joy in welcoming the delegation of Việt Nam’s provinces to attend the 6th Annual Conference among Secretaries of provincial Party Committees and the 12th session of the Joint Working Group between 4 provinces of Việt Nam and Yunnan province.

He affirmed that over the past time, the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Việt Nam’s localities and Yunnan province have been increasingly consolidated, developing in depth, and achieving many practical results in various fields. Yunnan province always attaches great importance to friendly cooperative relations with Việt Nam’s localities, especially provinces sharing a border; and at the same time, hopes that the parties will continue to strengthen the exchange of delegations at all levels, promote infrastructure connectivity, expand trade, economic cooperation, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and coordinate in managing and protecting a peaceful, stable, and mutually developing border.

Speaking at the meeting, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Trần Tiến Dũng proposed that in order to continue expanding and improving the efficiency of friendship and cooperation between the two localities in the coming time, Yunnan province should soon complete internal legal procedures and report to the competent authorities in China for approval to officially open the A Pa Chải - Long Phú bilateral border gate. At the same time, attention should be paid to investing in infrastructure in the Long Phú border gate area, meeting the requirements for customs clearance and trade in the spirit of facilitating border trade as agreed upon in the joint statement of the two countries.

To soon implement the trading and exchange of goods through the A Pa Chải - Long Phú Border Gate, Điện Biên province requested Yunnan to coordinate in preparing the necessary conditions for goods clearance; agree on a clearance plan suitable to the border gate and border management agreements between the two countries; and at the same time, provide information on the goods import plans of Yunnan province’s enterprises through this border gate.

Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Trần Tiến Dũng also requested Yunnan province to create conditions for enterprises of both sides to strengthen cooperation in developing industrial crop raw material areas such as snow shan tea, coffee, macadamia, and sugarcane, promoting investment in the deep processing of Điện Biên’s strong agricultural products.

In the field of tourism, the two sides will continue to strengthen tourism cooperation, considering this an important bridge to promote people-to-people exchanges and socio-economic development. At the same time, they will step up policy exchange and coordination, enhance the tourism image and brand of each country, and create favorable conditions for the sustainable development of the tourism industry. In the spirit of the “Việt Nam - China Tourism Cooperation Year 2026 - 2027” agreed upon in the Joint Statement during the state visit of Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm, the two sides will coordinate to effectively exploit tourism routes, build characteristic tourism products, strengthen linkages, and attract tourists.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Trần Tiến Dũng proposed that the functional agencies of both sides continue to coordinate closely, strengthen information exchange, and promptly and effectively handle issues arising in the border area, contributing to building a border of peace, friendship, stability, and development.

Previously, representatives of the leaders of Châu Hồng Hà and Kim Bình county, Yunnan province welcomed the delegation of Điện Biên and Lai Châu provinces at the Ma Lù Thàng (Việt Nam) - Jin Shui He (China) border gate.
