Party General Secretary Tô Lâm offers incense to fallen heroes, visits veteran in Điện Biên

ĐBP - On July 27, marking the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - 2025), Party General Secretary Tô Lâm, accompanied by a delegation of the Party and State officials, visited the Memorial Temple for Martyrs on the Điện Biên Phủ battlefield, paid tribute at the A1 Martyrs’ Cemetery, and visited the family of war veteran Phạm Văn Ngân in Điện Biên Phủ ward.

Joining the delegation were Politburo members: Lê Minh Hưng, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organization Commission; Nguyễn Duy Ngọc, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Inspection Commission; Nguyễn Xuân Thắng, Director of the Hồ Chí Minh National Academy of Politics; General Phan Văn Giang, Minister of National Defense; General Lương Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security. The delegation also included Lê Hoài Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Office; Senior Lieutenant General Trần Quang Phương, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly; and Hồ Đức Phớc, Deputy Prime Minister.

From Điện Biên province, attending officials included: Trần Quốc Cường, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Mùa A Sơn, Standing Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Trần Tiến Dũng, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; and members of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, and leaders of the provincial People’s Committee, and representatives of departments and agencies.

At the Memorial Temple on the historic Điện Biên Phủ battlefield, in a solemn and respectful atmosphere, Party General Secretary Tô Lâm and the delegation offered incense and observed a moment of silence to honor the immense sacrifices of the heroic martyrs, outstanding sons and daughters of the nation who fought and died for national liberation, construction, and defense. Before the spirits of the fallen, the delegates pledged unity and continued dedication to the national tradition of “remembering the source of the water we drink,” working together to build a prosperous, integrated, and developing country, and a strong, enduring Vietnam.

At the A1 Martyrs’ Cemetery, Party General Secretary Tô Lâm and delegates laid wreaths, offered incense at the central monument, and lit incense at individual graves of the martyrs.

In the memorial book, the Party General Secretary wrote: “The blood and sacrifices of the heroes and people contributed to the victory of Điện Biên Phủ, opening a glorious new chapter in the history of the Vietnamese nation and laying the foundation for a prosperous and happy country. Eternal gratitude to the heroic martyrs…”

During his visit to war veteran Phạm Văn Ngân’s family in Điện Biên Phủ ward, Party General Secretary Tô Lâm kindly inquired about the family’s health, living conditions, and economic situation. He expressed deep appreciation for their sacrifices and contributions, recognizing them as representative of countless families who gave so much for the revolution.
