In the context of modern society - particularly in the era of digital transformation where social networks thrive and fake or unverified news spreads rampantly - the role and responsibility of press workers and agencies have become heavier yet profoundly glorious.
Since its inception, the revolutionary press has always served as a sharp tool of the Party on the ideological and cultural front. Journalists are not merely news reporters but also vanguard soldiers championing righteousness and eliminating evil, fighting against the bad and the wrong to protect truth and justice. Each genuine press work does not simply reflect events but also provides guidance, contributing to reinforcing the public’s trust in the leadership of the Party and State.
Reality in Điện Biên province indicates that the team of journalists is increasingly maximizing its role. The entire province currently has nearly 200 people active in journalism, including 143 members who have been issued Vietnam Journalists’ Association cards. This core force on the information and dissemination front constantly strives to hone political mettle, cultivate professional ethics, upgrade professional qualifications, and apply digital technology to satisfy task requirements in the new situation. Each journalist acts not only as a practitioner but also as a custodian of the reputation and honor of the revolutionary press.
In the context of powerful digital transformation, journalism stands before major opportunities but also faces numerous challenges. The development of social networks has fundamentally transformed how the public receives information. Fake news, untruthful stories, and unverified information spread rapidly, causing public confusion and eroding social trust. This environment places an urgent demand on official press agencies and each revolutionary journalist to assert their leading and orienting role in information.
Journalists today need to be not only sharp in capturing information but must also ensure that their works are right, accurate, and engaging. In this professional context, being “right” means remaining precise and objective, while being accurate means hitting the true nature of the issue to meet the information needs of society, and being engaging means delivering attractive, accessible content that aligns with new media trends. This is not merely a professional standard but also a direct measure of a journalist’s responsibility toward the public.
Concurrently, digital transformation forces press agencies to alter their operational methods. Shifting away from traditional journalism models, the press is transforming robustly into a multimedia and multi-platform architecture. A single event or issue can now be expressed through various formats such as articles, videos, infographics, or podcasts, and then distributed across multiple print editions, radio and television channels, and different digital platforms. This multi-faceted landscape requires each journalist to continuously learn, adapt, master technology, and keep pace with the times to upgrade communication efficiency.
In the context of streamlining the apparatus and merging press agencies, requirements for workforce quality have become increasingly strict. There is no longer room for stagnation, a lack of creativity, or old journalism mindsets. Each press agency needs to build an appropriate development strategy, taking full advantage of technology to elevate content quality and expand public reach.
However, under any circumstances, the core element of journalism remains human. A journalist’s professional ethics, political mettle, and social responsibility are the foundational factors deciding the quality and reputation of the press. Writers must always uphold principles, remaining uninfluenced by personal interests, and refuse to chase trivial tastes or sensationalist information. Each press work must aim to serve the people and the interests of the country.
The role of a journalist is glorious, but the responsibility is immensely heavy. In a highly volatile society filled with multi-dimensional and complex information, each journalist must remain clear-headed, courageous, and committed to the truth. Journalism functions not just as an information supply channel but also as a force orienting public opinion, contributing to building a stable and developing society.
More than ever, the team of journalists needs to continue promoting the glorious tradition of the revolutionary press, constantly innovating, creating, and upgrading operational quality to be worthy of the trust of the Party, State, and People. This is precisely how the revolutionary press asserts its role and position in modern society - a society that demands fast, accurate, but above all, truthful and responsible information.
