Điện Biên youths start military service in 2025

ĐBP - This morning (February 15), youths from localities across Điện Biên Province were handed over to units to start their military service in 2025.

A large number of officials and local people gathered at youth-handover ceremonies to bid farewell to their outstanding citizens heading off to fulfill their duty of defending the Fatherland.

This year, Điện Biên Province selected and handed over 1,149 citizens for enlistment to units including: Regiment 741 (the provincial Military Command), the provincial Border Guard Command, Regiment 82 (Division 355, Military Region 2), the Điện Biên Provincial Police Department, and units under the Ministry of Public Security.

Thanks to well-executed selection processes ensuring transparency, fairness, democracy, and compliance with the law, the province selected citizens with good political qualities and health. Citizens classified with health grades 1 and 2 accounted for nearly 84%; educational attainment was higher than in 2024, with 1.4% holding university, college, or vocational diplomas; and one citizen is a Party member.

Among enlisted youths, ethnic minority people accounted for over 92%, including 10 from very small ethnic minority groups such as Xinh Mun, Nùng, Cống, and Kháng. A total of 65 young people from religious communities also enrolled this time.

With a strong sense of responsibility and duty to the Fatherland, 313 young people voluntarily submitted enlistment applications in 2025, including eight from the flood-stricken Mường Pồn area (Điện Biên District), despite ongoing difficulties after the natural disaster.
