Điện Biên provincial Police Force strives for practical achievements

ĐBP - As the 80th anniversary of people’s Public Security of Vietnam approaches (August 19, 1945 - 2025), the Điện Biên provincial Police Force is actively launching numerous emulation campaigns, achieving significant results tied to their mission of maintaining order and ensuring safety at the border of the homeland. The core focus is on embodying the spirit of “Serving people, sacrificing oneself for the country,” and building the image of police officers who are resilient, humane, and dedicated to people.

As a mountainous province with a long border with Laos and China, Điện Biên continuously faces many security and order challenges. Fully aware of the situation, the provincial police have proactively advised the provincial government to issue and implement various plans and strategies to protect political security, prevent crimes, especially drug trafficking, smuggling, and illegal immigration. Alongside this, coordination with relevant agencies has been strengthened, leading to the establishment of hundreds of effective self-management models such as “Border Self-Management Teams,” “Peaceful Villages without Crime and Social Issues,” and “Safe Families without Drugs.” These initiatives have led to numerous cases being identified and reported by the public, assisting the police in dealing with issues effectively at the grassroots level, proving the principle of “people as the root” and mobilizing the power of people in safeguarding the nation’s security.

An important milestone in the series of activities leading to the 80th anniversary is the successful organization of the 18th provincial Police Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term. With the motto “Innovation - Creativity - Proactivity - Discipline - Responsibility - Effectiveness,” the Congress set goals to enhance the leadership and combat effectiveness of the Party organization, build a clean, strong, professional, elite, and modern police force, and ensure order and security, contributing to Điện Biên’s strategic development.

The police force collaborates with the border guard force to patrol and ensure security along border areas.

In the 2020-2025 term, the provincial Police Party Committee led the force in accomplishing outstanding tasks, achieving notable results: strong reform of administrative procedures; deployment of professional police to rural areas; a vigorous crackdown on crime; increased use of technology in managing residences, implementing Project 06, and the “Popular Education” movement. The rate of criminal investigation and resolution reached high levels, with a 17.1% reduction in criminal offenses, a 73.4% increase in drug cases compared to the previous term, and the dismantling of large trafficking rings, earning praise from the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Laos. Efforts in combating economic crimes, corruption, and environmental offenses showed clear results, recovering over VND 46 billion in assets.

Foreign relations with the police forces of northern Laos and China were further strengthened, yielding tangible results: building and handing over 40 police stations for Laos; implementing the “Support for 12 Students in 6 Northern Lao Provinces” program; maintaining 2 permanent working groups in Laos; and developing the “Border Village/Cluster without Drugs” model. In the “Joining Hands to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses” campaign, the provincial police coordinated the construction of nearly 1,700 houses for poor households, policy families, and local security forces; mobilizing over 6,000 person-days to build 16 schools, 8 boarding houses, 11 kitchens, and 12 street lighting projects; and donated tens of thousands of gifts worth over VND 20 billion.

Alongside their professional duties, the police have also expanded their activities in social welfare, assisting the public in stabilizing their lives. The police’s missions in remote areas, delivering gifts to policy families and poor students, and constructing “Comrade’s Houses” and “Gratitude Houses” for officers and soldiers in need, have created a lasting, positive impression, showcasing the image of Điện Biên’s police officers as caring, dedicated, and selfless in serving people.

Recently, when flash floods occurred in the Háng Pu Xi village, Xa Dung commune, on August 1, causing significant losses of life and property, the police force from the province to the grassroots level immediately responded. They helped search for missing persons, assisted in relocating property, and provided essentials while helping rebuild lives. Mr. Mùa A Thi, Head of Háng Pu Xi, emotionally shared: “The police are very close to people, always concerned for us. As soon as the flood occurred, they were here doing everything they could to help us. We will never forget their kindness.”

As they move into the new phase, the Điện Biên Police continue to intensify their efforts in Party building, improving the force’s quality, investing in infrastructure and equipment, and modernizing training. They ensure that each officer is politically firm, professionally skilled, and ready to perform their duties excellently. This is not only an opportunity to recall their glorious traditions but also a wide-reaching political activity that strengthens determination and will to achieve new successes.

With the goal of “Building a Clean and Strong Party Organization; a Modern Police Force that Serves people,” the 2025-2030 term sets higher and more decisive expectations, requiring each Party committee and member to lead by example and act for the common good. However, with their resilient tradition, solidarity, and determination to overcome challenges, the Điện Biên Police Force is working tirelessly to achieve more successes, deserving of the trust and love from the Party, government, and people of the province, contributing to the continued success of the heroic Vietnam People’s Public Security.
