Điện Biên Police: “Sacrificing for the nation, serving the people”

ĐBP - Over 80 years of building, fighting, and growing, generations of Điện Biên police officers have carried forward and nurtured the noble tradition of “Sacrificing for the nation, serving the people.”

The Điện Biên police force has always upheld its sense of responsibility, taking the initiative in the fight against crime, safeguarding national security, and maintaining social order and safety, all for the peaceful and happy lives of the people.

During the peak campaign to crack down on crime in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day (September 2), and the Party congresses at all levels in 2025, the Điện Biên Phủ ward Police continuously achieved outstanding results in preventing and combating crime from the very first days of deployment. They uncovered and arrested numerous cases and suspects related to drug crimes. These continuous arrests demonstrated the urgency, determination, and proactive spirit of the ward’s police in their crackdown efforts, thereby reinforcing the image of the People’s Public Security officers as courageous individuals devoted to serving the people. Lieutenant Colonel Hoàng Trung Hà, Head of Điện Biên Phủ ward Police, affirmed: “Our ward police always focus on building a strong, professional, and elite force capable of effectively ensuring local security and order.”

Officers from the Fire and Rescue Police and Mobile Police (under the Điện Biên provincial Police Department) coordinate with other forces in search and rescue operations in Háng Pu Xi village, Xa Dung commune.

In recent years, hundreds of officers from the Điện Biên provincial Police Department have been assigned to remote border villages and disadvantaged areas to live and work closely with local residents. Through practical and effective actions, helping people with farming and harvests, building village roads, schools, and houses, while ensuring security and strengthening the local political system, the police have built strong bonds with ethnic communities.

In early August, heavy rains triggered flash floods, landslides, and severe damage to lives and property in the communes of Mường Luân, Na Son, Xa Dung, Tìa Dình, and others. The Điện Biên provincial Police Department mobilized more than 300 youth union members along with equipment to promptly assist local residents in overcoming disaster consequences. They cooperated with local authorities to open temporary roads and clear access routes to isolated villages. In high-risk landslide areas, the police worked with authorities and armed forces to relocate people and property to safety. Police youth’s and women’s organizations also provided essential medicines, medical supplies, food, and clean water to affected residents.

In recent years, the provincial police have ensured absolute safety for major political, diplomatic, cultural, and social events; effectively fought against crime, particularly drug trafficking and cybercrime; curbed rising crime rates; and increased the rate of solving criminal cases. As a result, criminal offenses decreased by 17.1%; multiple large-scale drug networks were dismantled; and more than VND 46 billion in assets were recovered from economic and corruption-related cases. Significant progress was also made in ensuring traffic safety, fire prevention and firefighting, rescue operations, and the movement to mobilize all citizens in safeguarding national security.

Through the movement “Joining Hands to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Housing,” the provincial police have supported the construction of nearly 1,700 houses, 16 schools, and many public projects worth over VND 20 billion. With the spirit of “Sacrificing for the nation, serving the people,” the Điện Biên provincial Police Department continue to work tirelessly, day and night, to play their core role in protecting the peaceful lives of the people.
