Điện Biên makes thorough preparations for election day

ĐBP - In the highland Nà Bủng commune, preparations for the election of delegates to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term are proceeding urgently.

Given the difficult transport in highland villages, the local government identifies the election as a central task and implements appropriate propaganda solutions to ensure the responsibility and mastery of the people. Detailed plans, from establishing election groups and reviewing voter lists to publicly posting them at village community houses and disseminating the Law on Election, have been proactively developed by Nà Bủng commune to suit practical conditions. For villages far from the center, mobile propaganda teams consisting of commune officials, village Party cell secretaries, and village heads go directly to every alley and knock on every door to inform residents about the time and location of the election while guiding voters to check their personal information in the posted lists.

To date, Nà Bủng commune has completed the preparation and review of voter lists on schedule, with polling areas arranged to ensure safety and convenience for the people, especially the elderly and people with disabilities. Specific plans for security, fire safety, and medical services for the election have been established to prepare for all possible situations. On February 3, Nà Bủng commune organized the second consultative conference to consider, discuss, and agree on the preliminary list, structure, composition, and number of candidates for the commune People’s Council in accordance with the Law on Election and local reality. The standing board of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the commune has also developed a plan to organize conferences to collect comments from voters at their residences for the candidates as prescribed.

Voters at the polling station of the Nà Tấu commune community house, polling area No.4, electoral unit No.1, check their personal information in the posted list.

Nà Tấu commune enjoys more favorable transport conditions and concentrated populations, where voter lists are publicly posted at community houses and polling areas for easy monitoring and checking. At the community house of Nà Tấu commune, within polling area No.4 of electoral unit No.1, Lò Văn Tiến, a voter from bản Lán Yên village, shared that he checked the voter list to verify his family’s information and felt reassured as the names, birth years, and residences were all correct, noting that such public postings help citizens understand their rights and responsibilities. According to reports from Nà Tấu commune, the preparation of voter lists, consultative meetings to introduce candidates, and material preparations for polling areas are being carried out on schedule, with election groups receiving professional training to ensure a democratic and legal election.

However, the implementation of election work in the province faces certain difficulties, particularly in highland and ethnic minority areas with vast terrain and scattered populations. A segment of the population working far from home or changing residences has made updating voter information a challenge, while the staff involved in election work mostly hold multiple concurrent positions. To promptly remove obstacles for the grassroots, in January 2026, the province decided to second 27 officials and public employees to assist 27 communes with the election of delegates to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2026 - 2031 term. The secondment period lasts from January 15 to March 31, 2026, during which these officials from six provincial agencies, including the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the provincial Party Organizing Board, the provincial Party Internal Affairs Board, the Department of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, and the provincial Inspectorate, are responsible for supporting commune-level people’s committees and election committees.

In the coming time, with the support of seconded officials, the communes will continue to review and update voter lists while stepping up propaganda to help every citizen understand their rights and obligations. Security and social order before, during, and after the election day will continue to be prioritized to ensure that the people’s great festival takes place democratically, safely, and successfully.
