Also receiving and working with the delegation was Lò Văn Cương, Member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; and representatives of a number of departments, branches, and localities in the province.

At the meeting, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Trần Tiến Dũng expressed his joy at welcoming the working delegation of Mavin Group Joint Stock Company to visit and learn about the reality in Điện Biên.

After providing general information about the potential and advantages of the province in developing the agricultural sector and a number of contents of interest to the delegation, the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee also emphasized: Currently, the province is closely following the directional policy of the Party General Secretary to build Điện Biên into a “Green - Smart - Sustainable” province by 2030.

With this goal, currently, Điện Biên’s agriculture possesses over 12,000ha of macadamia; over 8,000ha of coffee; in addition to many strong crops such as: rubber, tea, and fruit trees. However, regarding the development of high-quality, smart agriculture, especially in the field of production and livestock farming, the province is currently limited. Especially lacking are enterprises investing deeply in this field. Therefore, the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee wishes and welcomes Mavin in particular, and foreign enterprises and investors in general, to be interested in learning about and cooperating in investment.

Responding to the goodwill of the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, David John Whitehead stated that to date, Mavin is 1 of the 10 largest foreign enterprises investing in agriculture in Vietnam. Currently, the company also has many investment and production factories related to agriculture in the Northwestern region of Vietnam. After Lai Châu and Sơn La, the company representative wishes to continue connecting investment in Điện Biên. If conditions are created, the company will bring new experiences in agriculture, especially in its advantageous field of animal feed production.

Immediately, the company plans to invest in 1 animal feed factory, 1 agricultural product processing factory, and 1 organic fertilizer production factory; committing to applying new, modern technologies, and upholding environmental protection work. The total investment in the first year for Điện Biên is expected to be from VND 400 - 450 billion, focusing on building and developing a closed complex for animal feed, production farms, applying high technology to optimize production, creating an ecosystem coordinating with the people of Điện Biên to develop livestock farming and create jobs for workers.

The Mavin representative hopes that through this connection opportunity, cooperation opportunities will be expanded for the Company in particular, and other enterprises in Australia as well as foreign countries in general, to be interested in and invest in fields where the locality has strengths.

The Secretary of the provincial Party Committee acknowledged and thanked the sincerity as well as the plans that Mavin is building in Điện Biên. Based on information and opportunities to learn very carefully about the group beforehand, he hoped that in the coming time, the two sides would reach specific and closer agreement and cooperation.
