Điện Biên’s Labor Federation hosts media gathering

ĐBP - This afternoon (February 14), the Điện Biên Provincial Labor Federation hosted a get-together for press agencies to mark the beginning of the 2025 Lunar New Year of the Snake.

Attending the event were representatives from various provincial departments and sectors leaders of the Điện Biên Phủ Newspaper, Điện Biên Radio and Television, Central press agencies based in the province, and the federation’s collaborators.

In a warm and festive atmosphere, delegates watched a video highlighting the key achievements of the Điện Biên’s Trade Union in 2024 and outlining its major tasks for 2025. The federation’s leaders provided updates on efforts to support trade union members and workers during the recent Lunar New Year of the Snake holiday reviewed the outcomes of collaboration with press agencies in 2024, and rolled out directions for 2025.

During the 2025 Lunar New Year (Tết) holiday, over 31,340 trade union members and workers in the province received gifts, totaling VNĐ 14.4 billion. Specifically, the federation allocated 8,365 gifts worth more than VNĐ 4 billion to disadvantaged trade union members and workers affected by occupational accidents, serious illnesses, natural disasters, and job loss.

In addition, various meaningful activities were organized, including “The Tết Reunion - Spring of Sharing, Trade Union Tết Fair 2025” program. Leaders also visited and presented gifts to workers on duty, and Party and State leaders, along with officials from the provincial Party Committee and the People’s Council during the holiday.

Regarding collaboration with press agencies, in 2024, the federation maintained close cooperation with Central and local press agencies to ensure timely and effective coverage of trade union’s major activities and patriotic emulation movements. These efforts contributed to raising the public’s awareness and boosting morale among trade union members and workers.

To enhance this cooperation effectiveness, in 2025, the federation called on Central and local press agencies to strengthen collaboration with the trade unions at all levels in the province in key areas namely: Promoting Party congresses at all levels and highlighting the role of the trade union, expanding union membership and establishing grassroots unions in non-State enterprises, safeguarding and advocating for the legal rights and interests of union members and workers, disseminating legal policies, and showcasing outstanding labor movements and initiatives.

At the meeting, press agencies’ representatives highly appreciated the effectiveness of past media collaboration with the province’s trade union and suggested that the federation continues to enhance coordination by proactively developing media outlines, and providing detailed information, statistics, and key activities to ensure timely and impactful coverage.

During the event, the federation and Điện Biên Phủ Newspaper signed a agreement for 2025-2028. Both sides committed to increasing efforts on representing, caring for, and protecting the rights and interests of trade union members and workers in the new context; strengthening the dissemination of policies and regulations related to trade union members and workers; and regularly reporting on trade union activities, patriotic emulation movements, and exemplary individuals and teams.

On this occasion, the federation presented certificates of merit to five collectives and nine individuals for their outstanding achievements in media coverage of labor movements and provincial trade union’s activities in 2024.
