Young exemplars follow President Hồ Chí Minh’s teachings

ĐBP - Studying and following President Hồ Chí Minh’s ideology, morality, and lifestyle has become a widespread movement actively embraced by youth across Điện Biên Province. Through concrete and meaningful actions, numerous young individuals have emerged as role models, dedicating themselves to community service.

Inspired by President Hồ Chí Minh’s teaching that “A good physician must be like an affectionate mother at the same time,” Dr. Vũ Thị Minh Thủy, Deputy Head of the Faculty for Traditional Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Điện Biên Phủ City’s Medical Center, has always upheld her sense of responsibility and treats patients with the same care and attention as her own family.

Dr. Thủy shared: “In my work, I constantly remind myself to improve my expertise and uphold the ethics of a physician. My priority is always the health and well-being of my patients.”

Dedicating significant time to research, professional development, and learning from colleagues, Dr. Thủy introduced an innovative treatment combining electroacupuncture with therapeutic exercises to relieve sciatic nerve pain, which was officially recognized and implemented by the provincial Department of Health in 2024. The treatment has received positive feedback from patients for its effectiveness.

Beyond her medical duties, Dr. Thủy actively participates in charitable activities organized by her youth union. In 2024, she joined efforts to provide free medical check-ups and medicines to underprivileged communities, organize the Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations for children in Pá Khoang Commune, and distribute charity meals to patients every Wednesday and Friday. She also takes part in fundraising campaigns and community support programs.

Meanwhile, with the passion and enthusiasm of youth, Mr. Nguyễn Anh Sơn, Secretary of the Thanh Luông Commune Youth Union (Điện Biên District), has been a pioneer in youth-led initiatives, significantly strengthening local youth movements. His creativity and leadership have helped bring structure and innovation to youth activities, attracting greater participation from young people.

“Being part of the youth union has allowed me to grow and develop,” he said. “To make our activities more effective, I focus on inspiring young members to take on challenging tasks, organizing monthly and quarterly action plans, and ensuring that all youth union branches hold regular meetings. This has mobilized local youths’ participation in volunteer campaigns for community service.”

In recent years, he has successfully mobilized resources from organizations and businesses to implement various youth-led community projects, including “Lighting Up Rural Roads” projects; providing financial support to build two houses for disadvantaged families in Thanh Đông Hamlet and Nghịu Village, valued at VNĐ 120 million; and establishing a playground for children in Cộng Hòa Hamlet.

Additionally, he frequently organizes donations and charity programs, securing nearly VNĐ 60 million in aid for vulnerable groups in the community. Every weekend, he leads young volunteers in “Volunteer Saturday” and “Green Sunday” campaigns, cleaning village roads, dredging canals, and maintaining local infrastructure.

Recognized for his contributions, Sơn has received numerous commendations from both the Central Youth Union and the Điện Biên Provincial Youth Union.

Both Dr. Thủy and Sơn were among the 70 outstanding young individuals honored by the provincial Youth Union in 2024 for exemplifying President Hồ Chí Minh’s teachings. They share a common spirit of overcoming challenges, dedicating themselves to youth movements, and contributing to their respective organizations and communities.

Each of these young exemplars follows President Hồ Chí Minh’s thought, morality, and lifestyle as a guiding principle, embracing hard work, perseverance, and selfless dedication to the society.
