Provincial Party Secretary Trần Quốc Cường and the Governor of Saint Petersburg agreed to continue implementing cooperation activities in several areas, including information technology, education and training, tourism, and museums.
In the future, Saint Petersburg will send students, teachers, and veterans to visit Điện Biên and vice versa. The two sides will collaborate on building an Information Technology Application Center to implement digital transformation, apply science and technology in transportation, environmental sectors, and move towards building a green and environmentally friendly city. They will also focus on training students, especially young talents, and explore applications of information technology in areas such as AI, robotics, and drones.

On the same day, the Điện Biên provincial Party Secretary attended the large cities ecosystem session at the XI Neva International Environmental Forum. At the forum, he delivered a speech on the topic “Carbon Reduction and the Development of Environmentally Friendly Transportation.”
Accordingly, the provincial Party Secretary emphasized that in the coming time, Điện Biên Province would continue to innovate, applying technology and modern industrial and agricultural production processes, and using advanced equipment to reduce CO2 emissions. The province will enhance the control of CO2 emissions from industrial, transportation, residential, construction, and agricultural activities; develop organic agriculture, smart farming, and focus on forest development to raise the province’s forest cover rate to 48% by 2030.

The province will also encourage the use of environmentally friendly transportation, prevent forest fires, and limit the burning of agricultural by-products after harvest. Additionally, the province aims to develop electricity from clean and renewable energy sources, such as wind power, solar power, and hydropower, as well as research and pilot energy-saving solutions for public buildings, urban lighting systems, traffic lights, and industrial production facilities.
