Hải Dương leader visits Điện Biên province

ĐBP - On the afternoon of March 12, a delegation from Hải Dương province, led by Lê Văn Hiệu, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, Head of the National Assembly Deputy Delegation, and Secretary of the Party Committee of Hải Dương province’s Party Agencies, paid a courtesy visit to Điện Biên province’s leaders and discussed socio-economic development.

Welcoming the delegation on behalf of Điện Biên province were Mùa A Sơn, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of provincial Party Agencies; Lò Văn Phương, Member of the provincial Party Standing Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; along with representatives from the People’s Council, People’s Committee, and various provincial departments and sectors.

Mr. Lê Văn Hiệu presents a commemorative gift to Mr. Mùa A Sơn.

During the meeting, Mr. Mùa A Sơn provided an overview of Điện Biên’s socio-economic progress. In 2024, the province achieved an economic growth rate of 8.51%, surpassing the national average of over 7%. The average per capita income reached VNĐ 48 million per year, while agriculture and forestry continued developing in the right direction.

Representatives of Hải Dương’s Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee donate VNĐ 50 million to Điện Biên’s “For the Poor” Fund.

He also expressed gratitude for Hải Dương province’s support, especially the provincial Women’s Union’s assistance in helping women in border communes overcome poverty and improve their living conditions.

The Điện Biên provincial Women’s Union receives gifts from the Hải Dương provincial Women’s Union.

Hải Dương’s representatives shared updates on their province’s socio-economic development and commended Điện Biên’s achievements. Over the past eight years, under the national “Accompanying border women” program initiated by the Vietnam Women’s Union, Hải Dương has sent nine working delegations to Điện Biên. These visits have resulted in various meaningful activities, including donating charity houses and livelihood models for women in need; and providing street lighting systems, fruit tree saplings, computers, printers, and televisions to women’s organizations, schools, and border posts.

Leaders from both provinces offer incense at the Martyrs’ Temple at the Điện Biên Phủ Battlefield.

On this occasion, Hải Dương province donated VNĐ 50 million to Điện Biên’s “For the Poor” Fund and presented 12 printers and 12 computers to the Điện Biên provincial Women’s Union.

Following the meeting, the Hải Dương delegation visited the Martyrs’ Temple at the Điện Biên Phủ Battlefield and the A1, Độc Lập, Tông Khao, and Him Lam Martyrs’ Cemeteries to pay respects to fallen soldiers.

Delegates observe a moment of silence in remembrance of fallen heroes at A1 Martyrs’ Cemetery.

At these sites, the delegation solemnly laid wreaths, offered incense, and expressed deep gratitude to General Võ Nguyên Giáp, officers, soldiers, youth volunteers, and logistical forces who sacrificed their lives for the historic Điện Biên Phủ victory.

In a spirit of deep reverence, the delegation pledged to uphold the ideals of President Hồ Chí Minh, carry forward the heroic tradition of Điện Biên Phủ, and contribute to Vietnam’s industrialization, modernization, and national prosperity.
