In Điện Biên Phủ city, Điện Biên province, three officials from the Commission for Mass Mobilization and the Commission for Information and Education under the municipal Party Committee have taken the lead and voluntarily retired early, sacrificing personal interest for the collective interest.
Demonstrating responsibility and setting an example for officials and party members, Mrs. Mai Thị Hường (born in 1972), Deputy Head of the Commission for Information and Education of the municipal Party Committee, voluntarily submitted her retirement request, even though she still has nearly six years until reaching retirement age. Mrs. Hường shared: “I believe that retiring at this time is appropriate for myself, and it is also a positive contribution to the implementation of Resolution No.18-NQ/TW. I want to make a small contribution to the process of streamlining the apparatus smoothly and actively; at the same time, creating opportunities for younger colleagues to continue their contribution.”
Although her retirement is only days away, Mrs. Hường has always been committed to fulfilling her responsibilities and dedicating herself to work until the very last day. In addition to handling daily tasks, she has been organizing files and documents for job handover and sharing her experiences with colleagues.

Regarding her plans after retirement, Mrs. Mai Thị Hường further shared that even after retirement, no matter where she is or the circumstances, she would continue to fulfill my duties as a party member for the development of the city. “I will continue to participate in cultural, artistic activities, and movements of associations and organizations in my place of residence,” she added.
Similarly, Mr. Bùi Xuân Lương (born in 1973), a specialist from the Commission for Mass Mobilization of the municipal Party Committee, voluntarily submitted his request for early retirement, although he still has ten years until reaching retirement age. After 35 years of working in various fields, his health has declined, and moreover, the opportunity to retire early with favorable policy prompted him to make the decision to retire and focus on taking care of his family. Mr. Lương fully agrees with the Party’s policy on restructuring and streamlining the apparatus according to Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW. In his view, this is a revolutionary move to reorganize and arrange the political system to operate effectively and efficiently, with a resolute, unified, and determined approach from central to grassroots levels. This would contribute to the country’s development in line with global trends, bringing Vietnam confidently into a new era with breakthroughs in all fields. The restructuring and streamlining of the apparatus will help reduce the number of administrative agencies and make it easier for citizens to complete administrative procedures more efficiently.
Mr. Bùi Xuân Lương shared that for him, retiring early is not because he has lost his passion or he is avoiding responsibility, but he hoped it would create an opportunity for the younger generation to develop their abilities in the future. He believed that the current young generation, with their knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm, will continue to fulfill their mission, striving to contribute and serve the people and the country. Over the years of his service, he has gained certain experiences and knowledge, so he is ready to share them and assist the younger generation whenever needed.
The officials who voluntarily retired early demonstrated exemplary leadership and a high sense of responsibility in the process of restructuring and streamlining the apparatus. At the same time, they have facilitated the restructuring of personnel after mergers, opening up opportunities for young, capable human resources to meet the growing demands in the future.
