Elder Party members set bright examples

ĐBP - Keeping unwavering faith in the Party, many elderly party members in the province continue to exemplify responsibility and leadership. Regardless of their roles, they actively participate in the “Elderly - Bright Example” movement, contributing to building a prosperous and civilized homeland, and strengthening the relationship between the Party and the people.

At 71 years old and with 33 years of Party membership, Vì A Hao from Thành Công Residential Quarter, Tủa Chùa township (Tủa Chùa district, Điện Biên province) remains sharp and energetic. Despite his age, he continues to embody the spirit of learning and following President Hồ Chí Minh’s teachings, setting an example through his words and actions.

A former educator, after retiring, Hao has made significant contributions to his community. In 2009, he retired and was trusted to become the head of his family lineage. Always concerned about the education of his descendants and local people, he actively encouraged and motivated them to strive for excellence and live up to their ancestors’ traditions. He also contributed his experiences and suggested practical solutions to improve the quality of education in the area, encouraging people to support educational funds and establish local study promotion associations to reward and encourage students with achievements in their studies.

As a person of prestige, Hao, with the belief that party members should lead by example, always adheres to the Party’s principles and the state’s policies. He has actively mobilized the people to follow the local community’s regulations and guidelines. During the 2019-2024 term, in his role as Head of the Working Board of the Fatherland Front Committee in his neighborhood, Hao always stayed close to the people, discussed, and addressed issues that concerned the public, ensuring their voices were heard by the authorities for timely resolution. “In 1991, I took the Party oath during my induction ceremony. Since then, I have always reminded myself to keep that promise, stay loyal to the Party and the people, promote responsibility, honor as a party member, and actively contribute to the people, the country, and the Party,” he shared.

Tòng Văn Minh (far right) from Thanh Nưa commune (Điện Biên district) popularizes local residents on the State’s laws.

Currently, the province has thousands of elderly party members. Despite their age and some health limitations, they continue to play a pioneering role in community service, setting examples in economic development, building new rural areas, urban civilization, and strengthening the grassroots political system.

For instance, Tòng Văn Minh, from Hạ hamlet, Thanh Nưa commune (Điện Biên district), not only does well in spreading the Party’s guidelines and State’s policies and laws to the people but also encourages them to participate actively in patriotic emulation movements and educate and reform wrongdoers in the community. To this day, the awareness of the people in his village has been noticeably improved, with households focusing on developing their family economy and no longer engaging in social evils.

On nearly 2 hectares of land, Minh has invested in growing fruit trees and developing animal husbandry. His family has planted nearly a hundred fruit trees and raises 100-200 poultry every cycle. Every year, after deducting expenses, his family’s economic model generates an income of over VND 100 million. Mr. Minh shared: “As long as I have the strength, I will continue to contribute. I am happy to be part of the effort to help build our homeland to be wealthier, more civilized.”

With the exemplary spirit of party members leading the way, many officials and retired party members still actively contribute to local Party building and governance after retirement, becoming the core of emulation movements and activities. Many retired party members have been trusted by the Party and the people and elected as party cell secretaries, deputy secretaries, neighborhood heads, and members of the Working Board of the local Fatherland Front Committee.

After more than 30 years of work and retirement, Đặng Thị Ngát, from Residential Quarter No.2, Thanh Bình ward (Điện Biên Phủ city), still embodies the pioneering and exemplary qualities of a party member and actively participates in community work. Over the past five years, as the head of the party cell in her neighborhood, Ngát has frequently engaged with the opinions, concerns, and aspirations of party members and residents to create appropriate leadership resolutions. She also promoted the Party’s policy and state laws, raised the spirit of solidarity, and encouraged participation in the “All People Unite to Build Cultural Life in Residential Areas” movement and patriotic emulation activities. In the campaign to build green, clean, and beautiful streets, Ngát worked with her party cell to discuss and issue resolutions, and led efforts to encourage people to participate in environmental protection and urban beautification.

Hao, Minh, and Ngát are three of many exemplary elderly party members setting a bright example of learning and following President Hồ Chí Minh’s teachings. By utilizing their own experiences and exemplary spirit, they are proving to be immensely important in various fields, contributing positively to the development of their communities. They are role models for future generations of party members to follow.
