Điện Biên promotes emulation movement for socio-economic development

ĐBP - On February 22, the People’s Committee of Điện Biên Province held a conference to review the emulation and commendation work of 2024, assess the special emulation movement marking the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory, the 115th anniversary of the province’s establishment, and the 75th anniversary of the provincial Party Committee’s founding, and launch the 2025 emulation movement.

Attending the conference were Mr. Trần Quốc Cường, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Mr. Mùa A Sơn, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Lò Văn Phương, Member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, along with leaders of the People’s Council and People’s Committee, representatives from departments, agencies, districts, towns, and cities, and exemplary individuals and organizations.

In 2024, emulation drives initiated by the Prime Minister, ministries, central agencies, and the provincial authorities were widely implemented across all sectors and localities. They energized public servants, employees, and citizens, particularly in celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory, the 115th anniversary of the province’s establishment, and the 75th anniversary of the provincial Party Committee.

The province achieved positive socio-economic and national defense-security results, fostering self-reliance, solidarity, and determination to fulfill key development goals. Notably, 16 out of 26 key socio-economic indicators met or exceeded targets, including 8 indicators ranking among the highest in the northern midland and mountainous region in economic growth. National defense and security were maintained, and foreign relations and international cooperation continued to expand.

A major highlight was the successful organization of the National Tourism Year - Điện Biên 2024, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory. The grand ceremony, military parade, and celebratory events were meticulously planned and executed, attracting significant participation from officials, guests, and international visitors, leaving a lasting impression on the public and foreign friends.

At the same time, patriotic emulation movements were actively promoted across all sectors, agencies, and localities, involving public servants, workers, military personnel, and citizens throughout the province. These movements helped identify, nurture, and expand exemplary role models, contributing to socio-economic development, political stability, and social order.

Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Trần Quốc Cường commended and congratulated the outstanding achievements from the 2024 emulation movement. He emphasized that these successes played a crucial role in ensuring the province’s economic, social, and security objectives, creating momentum for further progress in the coming years.

Looking ahead, the Secretary of the provincial Party Committee urged Party committees, authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, and socio-political organizations to strengthen leadership and awareness of President Hồ Chí Minh’s ideology on patriotic emulation, as well as the Party’s guidelines and State’s laws and policies on emulation and commendation work, particularly Directive No.41-CT/TW dated December 26, 2024 of the Politburo on strengthening the Party’s leadership over emulation and reward work in the current situation.

He also emphasized the need to enhance the leadership role of Party committees, organizations, and authorities, particularly leaders’ accountability in guiding emulation and commendation efforts; encourage officials and Party members to lead by example, actively promoting patriotic emulation movements alongside the study and implementation of President Hồ Chí Minh’s ideology, ethics, and lifestyle; streamline and strengthen the organizational structure of the political system, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness; and recognize and reward exemplary agencies, units, and individuals who are dedicated to their duties, voluntarily accepting assignments, working at grassroots levels, or retiring early.

At the event, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Lê Thành Đô officially launched the 2025 patriotic emulation movement, with various departments and districts signing emulation agreements.

Recognizing the spirit of patriotism and dedication over the past year, the President of Vietnam awarded the Second-Class Labor Order to two individuals and the Third-Class Labor Order to eight individuals.

Additionally, the Prime Minister awarded Certificates of Merit to 14 organizations and 49 individuals. The Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 90 organizations and 73 individuals for their outstanding contributions to the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory celebrations.

Moreover, Certificates of Merit were also awarded to 9 organizations for their remarkable efforts in special emulation movements celebrating the anniversaries of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory, the province’s establishment, and the provincial Party Committee’s founding.
