He made these remarks on Monday while hosting a delegation from the Hesse Office in Việt Nam, which coordinates and supports cooperative activities between Germany and Việt Nam. The delegation was led by Kambiz Ghawami, President of the WUS and an authorised representative of the state of Hesse.
During the meeting, Chairman Đô provided an overview of Điện Biên's socio-economic development in recent years.
He highlighted the province’s established partnerships with six northern provinces in Laos, provinces in northeastern Thailand, Batna Province in Algeria, Saint Petersburg in Russia, and Yunnan Province in China.
Điện Biên is also working to establish cooperative ties with localities in countries such as the Dominican Republic, Japan, and South Korea.
Chairman Đô expressed his wish for the WUS and the Hesse Office to enhance connections between Điện Biên and German enterprises, focusing on areas such as labour export, education and training, management training, and implementing projects on clean water supply and environmental protection.
He particularly emphasised support for training doctoral candidates as part of preparations for establishing Điện Biên Phủ University and providing short-term training for provincial managers, teachers, and lecturers in Germany.
Kambiz Ghawami, for his turn, expressed gratitude for the warm reception from Điện Biên leaders and commended the province’s development and achievements.
He affirmed the WUS’s commitment to continued cooperation, particularly in education, training, and facilitating partnerships.
Kambiz Ghawami proposed that Điện Biên coordinate with Việt Nam’s Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to organise a delegation to Germany for surveys and discussions related to labour export.
He also encouraged the province to send specialists to participate in training programmes in Germany on waste management.
He highlighted the importance of training young human resources and management personnel with German language skills.
Additionally, he suggested that Điện Biên participate in international tourism fairs in Germany to promote the province's tourism potential to German and international businesses.
