Standing Committee of the Điện Biên Provincial Party Committee holds meeting on key issues

ĐBP – The Standing Committee of the Điện Biên Provincial Party Committee held its 72nd meeting on Wednesday to discuss several important matters.

The meeting was chaired by Trần Quốc Cường, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.

Attendees included Mùa A Sơn, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Lò Văn Phương, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; other members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; and representatives from the Central Organisation Committee, the Central Inspection Committee, the Central Party Office, and the Central Internal Affairs Committee.

The Standing Committee reviewed a draft report from the provincial Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committee on the results of supporting the construction of houses for poor people and the implementation of social welfare in the province on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory.

The Standing Committee unanimously agreed that this was a significant achievement for the province.

It suggested adding future directions and tasks, as well as guidelines for distributing support to localities. Additionally, it recommended researching new support criteria for families without homes as set by the Central Committee of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front; using support funds to improve the lives of ethnic minorities in mountainous areas; and investing in building classrooms and dormitories for students.

At the meeting, the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee presented a draft report on the socio-economic development plan in the first half of this year, as well as tasks and solutions for the second half of 2024.

It also reported on the local budget revenue and expenditure for the first half of the year and the main tasks and solutions for managing the local budget for the second half of 2024, along with adjustments to the local budget expenditure plan for 2024.

The Standing Committee generally agreed with the contents of the report presented by the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee, while also suggesting the inclusion of additional content, targets, and solutions such as the PAPI index, measures to improve public service discipline, and solutions for land clearance for projects.

Furthermore, the Standing Committee noted that despite many significant achievements, several areas and targets had not met expectations, particularly the disbursement of public investment funds. Therefore, it is necessary for all levels, sectors and localities to remain united, focused, and flexible in implementing solutions to achieve the set plans.

Also at the meeting, the Standing Committee provided input on organisational and personnel matters, reviewed the draft report on the results of inspection, supervision, and disciplinary actions by the Party in the first half of 2024, and discussed the progress of the housing projects in the western area of the Nậm Rốm River and Tân Thanh area in Điện Biên Phủ City.
