Provincial Farmers' Association celebrates 50th anniversary

ĐBP — On the morning of 12th November, the Provincial Farmers' Association held a ceremony to mark its 50th founding anniversary (12th November 1974 – 12th November 2024). Attendees included Trần Quốc Cường, Member of the Party Central Committee and Provincial Party Committee Secretary; Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee; as well as former provincial leaders and past leaders of the Provincial Farmers' Association.

The province currently has 1,446 local farmers' sub-associations with over 86,900 members. Over the past 50 years, the association's work and the farmers' movement in the province have made significant strides, both in content and methods of operation. Efforts to build and strengthen the association's organisation have been enhanced, while the role and responsibilities of association leaders, members, and farmers in socio-economic development, national defence and security, Party building, and strengthening the political system have been promoted.

Attention has been given to safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of members and farmers. Through patriotic activities and movements, the association has increasingly affirmed its role as a central force in building new rural areas, contributing to agricultural development, and improving the material and spiritual well-being of members and farmers, ensuring social welfare.

In recognition of its achievements over the past 50 years, the Provincial Farmers' Association has been honoured with awards from the State President, including the Third-Class, Second-Class, and First-Class Labour Orders; the Government's Outstanding Emulation Flag; the Outstanding Emulation Flag from the Central Committee of the Việt Nam Farmers' Association; and the Outstanding Emulation Flag from the Provincial People’s Committee.

Provincial Party Committee Secretary Trần Quốc Cường commended and acknowledged the achievements of the provincial Farmers' Association over recent years, emphasising that the association's 50-year journey of growth and development has always been closely linked to the province's socio-economic progress, national defence, and the building of the Party and political system. At every stage of the province’s development, the association has made important and meaningful contributions.

The Provincial Party Secretary expressed confidence and hope that, in the coming years, the association and its activities will continue to develop with greater strength and creativity, successfully achieving the objectives set out in the resolutions of Party congresses at all levels. He anticipates that these efforts will further promote the industrialisation and modernisation of agriculture and rural areas, helping build Điện Biên as a province strong in politics, prosperous in the economy, and resilient in national defence and security.

In recognition of the achievements of the Provincial Farmers' Association, the Central Committee of the Việt Nam Farmers' Association awarded a Certificate of Merit to the Provincial Farmers' Association. Additionally, the Provincial People’s Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to three groups and five individuals for their outstanding contributions to the emulation movement celebrating the 50th anniversary of the association (12th November 1974 – 12th November 2024).
