Politburo member Trương Thị Mai Leads Official Delegation to Điện Biên for Working Visit

ĐBP - On the afternoon of March 27, Trương Thị Mai, Member of the Politburo, Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat and Chairwoman of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission, and Head of the Central Steering Committee for Commemorating Major Holidays and Important Historical Events of the Nation for the years 2023 - 2025, accompanied by a working group, paid a visit and conducted official duties in Điện Biên.

Joining the delegation were Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa, Secretary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam (CPV) Central Committee and head of its Commission for Popularisation and Education; Secretary of the Central Party Committee and Chairman of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee Đỗ Văn Chiến; and Member of the Central Party Committee and Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà, alongside other distinguished officials.

In representing Điện Biên province, comrades Trần Quốc Cường, Member of the Central Party Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and Lò Văn Phương, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, led the delegation. They were joined by members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, and representatives from provincial departments and agencies.

During the visit and work in Điện Biên, Trương Thị Mai, along with the members of the working group and provincial leaders, visited and handed over the Great Unity House to Lò Văn Minh's family residing in Co Pục village, Hua Thanh commune, Điện Biên district. Lò Văn Minh's family is known to be a poor household facing difficult circumstances. As part of Project 09, his family received support amounting to VNĐ50 million for the construction of the Great Unity House. Leveraging their own materials accumulated over the years and additional borrowed funds, they completed a spacious and sturdy stilt house valued at VNĐ120 million. The inauguration of Mr. Minh's family's new Great Unity House coincided with the Lunar New Year of Giáp Thìn 2024. Additionally, Mai and the working group took the opportunity to visit, converse with, and offer encouragement to the residents of Co Pục village, while also presenting gifts to 8 impoverished families in Hua Thanh commune, Điện Biên District.

Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC's Commission for Communication and Education Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa, and Trần Quốc Cường, Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, presented gifts to children at the Provincial Social Protection Centre.

Following this, Trương Thị Mai and the working group visited and presented gifts to children in special circumstances at the Provincial Comprehensive Social Protection Centre. Representatives of the facility provided a briefing to the visiting delegates on its operations, as well as the care and education provided to the children. Pleased with the progress made and empathetic towards the challenges faced by the facility, Trương Thị Mai and the members of the working group kindly engaged with the children, offering words of encouragement and presenting them with many gifts.

Đỗ Văn Chiến, Secretary of the Central Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, along with Trần Hồng Hà, Member of the Central Party Committee and Deputy Prime Minister, presented gifts to children at the Provincial Social Protection Centre.

The working group visited the A1 Hill memorial site.

The working group listened to a report on the preliminary plan for the rally, military parade, and march commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory at the Provincial Stadium.

On the same day, the working group, along with provincial leaders, inspected the preparation work for the commemorative activities of the 70th anniversary off the Điện Biên Phủ Victory.
