Điện Biên leaders pay tribute to Điện Biên Phủ martyrs

ĐBP – A delegation of Điện Biên Province, led by Trần Quốc Cường, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, on Thursday laid wreaths and offered incense in memory of the heroes and martyrs at the Điện Biên Phủ Battlefield Martyrs' Temple, the A1 National Martyrs Cemetery and several other martyrs' cemeteries in Điện Biên Phủ City and Điện Biên District.

This event was part of a series of activities to commemorate the 77th anniversary of Vietnamese War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 – July 27, 2024).

Among the attendees were Mùa A Sơn, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Lò Văn Phương, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; members of the Provincial People's Council Standing Committee; leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, along with representatives from various departments, agencies and local units.

At the Điện Biên Phủ Battlefield Martyrs' Temple and the A1 National Martyrs Cemetery, in a solemn and respectful atmosphere, the provincial leaders laid flowers, offered incense, and observed a moment of silence in memory of President Hồ Chí Minh, the national liberation hero and world cultural celebrity; General Võ Nguyên Giáp, the first commander of the Việt Nam People's Army; and the heroic martyrs who courageously fought and sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the nation, for socialism, and for the happiness of the people.

Honouring the martyrs' sacrifices, the delegation pledged to continue the revolutionary tradition, diligently care for war invalids, martyrs' families, and those who have contributed to the country. They also committed to inheriting and promoting the revolutionary achievements of previous generations, uniting to build a prosperous and developing Điện Biên Province.

After the moment of silence, the provincial leaders offered incense at each martyr's grave at the A1 National Martyrs Cemetery.

Later that morning, Secretary Cường and the delegation laid wreaths and offered incense in tribute to the martyrs at Him Lam Martyrs Cemetery.

Permanent Deputy Secretary Sơn and the delegation did the same at Độc Lập Martyrs Cemetery, and Chairman Đô and his delegation paid tribute at Tông Khao Martyrs Cemetery.

At these cemeteries, the provincial leaders' delegation observed a moment of silence, respectfully remembering the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation's independence and freedom.
