Điện Biên leader pays working visit to Mường Ảng District

ĐBP - A delegation from the Điện Biên Province's Standing Committee, led by Trần Quốc Cường, a member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, held a working session on Thursday morning with the Mường Ảng District Party Standing Committee to review the implementation of political tasks since the start of the 2020-2025 term.

During the session, the delegation requested clarification on several issues, including the slow progress in land and forest allocation, the construction of new rural areas, urban planning, and the development of community tourism sites and tourism infrastructure. Other topics requiring clarification included rural planning, the establishment of cultural facilities at local and district levels, the evaluation of macadamia planting effectiveness, the implementation of Scheme 06, anti-drug measures, training and development of officials, the eradication of temporary and dilapidated houses for poor households, and the establishment of geographical indications for coffee in Mường Ảng District.

Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Lê Thành Đô, praised Mường Ảng District's achievements while highlighting areas needing improvement.

He noted that land and forest allocation and the development of new rural areas had not met planned targets, with no advanced new rural area established in the district. He urged the district to focus on agricultural restructuring, particularly replanting coffee and citrus trees, finalising detailed urban planning, and developing tourism, commercial services, poverty reduction, social welfare, and digital transformation.

In his closing remarks, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Trần Quốc Cường, recognised the district's progress, especially in urban planning and poverty reduction, with poverty rates decreasing faster than the provincial average. He noted Mường Ảng as a model of solidarity and unified leadership. The provincial leader also encouraged continued efforts to achieve set goals, collaboration with businesses and investors for coffee replanting, and proactive engagement with professional agencies and financial institutions for scientific research projects on coffee varieties and post-harvest processing methods.

In more than half of the term of implementing the resolutions of the Party Congresses at all levels and the 23rd District Party Congress in the 2020-2025 term, Mường Ảng District has achieved significant results in various fields. The economy has seen considerable growth, with most key indicators meeting the targets set at the 23rd District Party Congress.

The district's total product from 2020 to 2024 reached VNĐ2.29 trillion, an increase of 59.4 per cent compared to 2020, and the average income in 2023 reached VNĐ34.5 million per person, an increase of VNĐ9.2 million. The district maintained over 2,190 hectares of coffee plants, with a 2023 output of over 6,000 tonnes, generating revenues of over VNĐ450 billion. High-value economic fruit tree cultivation models have been developed across 509.1 hectares in several communes, yielding 811.6 tonnes per year and VNĐ15 billion in annual revenue. The livestock population growth rate averaged 2.5 per cent per year.

The total allocated investment capital from 2021 to 2024 was more than VNĐ744.9 billion for 141 projects, with VNĐ520.3 billion disbursed by the end of April, reaching 69.86 per cent of the plan.
