Điện Biên kicks off Ban Flower Festival 2024 – Điện Biên’s National Tourism Year

ĐBP – The Ban Flower Festival, a key event of Điện Biên Province's National Tourism Year 2024, is scheduled to commence on March 16 in Điện Biên City.

This announcement was made by the Provincial People's Committee during a press conference held on February 23 in Điện Biên City.

The conference was jointly organised by the committee in collaboration with the provincial Party Central Committee's Commission for Communication and Education, the Department of Information and Communications, and the Journalists' Association.

Leading the conference were Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Lê Tiến Dũng, Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Commission for Communication and Education; and Phạm Ngọc Hân, Chairman of the Provincial Journalists' Association.

At the conference, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated that the theme for the province’s National Tourism Year 2024 is "The glory of Điện Biên Phủ - Infinite experiences."

This event, commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), will feature 169 programmes and events. Among them, there will be 13 national programmes and events organised by ministries, departments, and agencies; 28 events and activities organised by Điện Biên Province; and 128 events and activities organised by 33 cities and provinces.

The Ban Flower Festival, the highlight of the Điện Biên Province’s National Tourism Year 2024 with the theme "Back to the land of Ban flowers", is set to open on March 16 in Điện Biên Phủ City’s May 7 Square.

Spanning from March 13 to 18, the festival boasts a diverse lineup of activities, including an incense offering ceremony at the Điện Biên Phủ martyrs' memorial temple, a photo contest showcasing the resplendent Ban flower landscape, a show of traditional costumes of ethnic groups, an ethnic sports competition, an exhibition featuring cultural and tourism products, and activities to connect tours and travel routes.

Speaking at the press conference, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Lê Thành Đô called for the media to enhance the promotion of the Điện Biên Province’s National Tourism Year and the Ban Flower Festival 2024 through various diverse forms to disseminate the event and contribute to promoting the image of Điện Biên's land, people, culture, and tourism to domestic and international visitors./.
