Following approximately two weeks of intensive training, the air force units of the Air Defence – Air Force Service under the Ministry of National Defence are fully prepared for the parade and procession commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory on May 7.
The flying units comprise Squadron 916, Division 371; Squadron 930, Division 372; and Squadron 917, Division 370.
Prior to each flight session, officers and technicians of the squadrons, along with officers and engineers from the Aircraft Engine Research Department under the Air Defence – Air Force Technical Institute, gather at the apron area in the early morning to conduct thorough checks on each aircraft, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
Despite encountering various challenges such as the rugged terrain of Điện Biên Phủ, surrounded by high hills, and some pilots participating in operations in this area for the first time, the joint training flights of the three divisions at Điện Biên Phủ Airport proceeded safely, meeting all requirements.
As outlined in the commemoration ceremony plan, the air force will deploy 12 helicopters, including nine for the ceremony, two reserved, and one for search and rescue purposes. These helicopters will carry the Party and National flags, flying in demonstration over Điện Biên Province’s Stadium and the surrounding areas of Điện Biên Phủ City.
The flying formations will maintain an altitude of 300 meters or lower. When passing over the provincial stadium, the altitude will decrease to 150 meters, and the flying speed will be 120 kph.
At present, the joint training tasks have been essentially completed, ensuring readiness for the rehearsal, final rehearsal, and the official parade and procession.
