He made this statement at the Macadamia Planting Festival 2024 and Conference on Macadamia Development Orientation, held on the afternoon of May 23 in Tuần Giáo District.

Leaders attending the festival and conference included Secretary Trần Quốc Cường, who is also a Member of the Party Central Committee; Giàng Thị Hoa, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Deputy Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; and Lò Văn Mừng, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Chairman of the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee.

Secretary of the Điện Biên Province Party Committee Trần Quốc Cường and other representatives attend the Macadamia Planting Festival 2024 and Conference on Macadamia Development Orientation.

Speaking at the festival, Lò Văn Cương, Secretary of Tuần Giáo District Party Committee, stated that developing macadamia trees is the most important task that the entire political system, from district to grassroots levels, cares about.

Last year, with high determination, Tuần Giáo District planted nearly 1,700 hectares of macadamia trees with the participation of 2,800 households. The planted macadamia area is developing well, with a survival rate of over 90 per cent. This development has created a significant change in restructuring the agricultural sector in the district, establishing a clear direction for poverty reduction and leading to sustainable wealth for local people.

Professor, PhD Nguyễn Lân Hùng, Standing Deputy Chairman of the Việt Nam Macadamia Association, delivers a speech at the conference.

The district aims to have over 8,000 hectares of macadamia trees by the end of 2025. On average, each household will own about 100 macadamia trees, creating jobs for tens of thousands of workers and providing them with a stable income.

At the conference, representatives watched a report on the process of planting and developing macadamia trees in the area to achieve the goal of eliminating poverty. They also listened to presentations from various experts and scientists on the suitability of macadamia trees, product orientation, and building the Điện Biên macadamia brand. Additionally, they proposed solutions for sustainably expanding Arabica coffee in Tuần Giáo District.

Secretary of the Điện Biên Province Party Committee Trần Quốc Cường gives direction at the conference.

In his address at the conference, Provincial Party Secretary Cường highly appreciated the direction and methods of Tuần Giáo District. He believed the conference was a meaningful opportunity to exchange information, learn, and share knowledge and experience. It also allowed representatives to receive valuable advice and recommendations from experts, scientists, and businesses to benefit local production. This will help transform locals’ thinking from agricultural production to an agricultural economy, expanding the area for growing high-value fruit trees.

The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee affirmed that the macadamia planting results in Tuần Giáo District demonstrated the determination and effectiveness in the leadership and direction of the Party Committee and district authorities. The results also showed the good participation and response of organisations, unions, enterprises, and the people in implementing the province's policies.

To promote macadamia trees, coffee, and other economically valuable crops in the province, especially in Tuần Giáo District, while also protecting and developing forests, Secretary Cường urged Party committees, authorities, Fatherland Front committees at all levels, and socio-political organisations in the province and Tuần Giáo District to consolidate and innovate education to support farmers in implementing macadamia tree planting projects.

Immediately after the Macadamia Planting Festival 2024 launching ceremony, delegates visited the district's macadamia seedling garden and planted several macadamia trees in Cang Village, Quài Nưa Commune.
