Bilateral patrol held to protect Vietnam-Laos border landmarks

ĐBP - On April 9, the Pa Thơm Border Post under the Điện Biên provincial Border Guard Command and Border Company 119 under the Phongsaly provincial Military Command of Laos jointly conducted a bilateral border patrol for 2025.

The two units patrolled the border section around landmark cluster 111, which is jointly managed by both sides.

Border patrol units meet at the designated point.

During the patrol, the two forces jointly inspected the condition of the shared borderline, markers, and boundary indicators; assessed actual border situations; and monitored security and public order in the area.

The two sides prepare their formations before the patrol begins.

Following the patrol, both sides agreed that the shared borderline and markers remain intact, with no signs of erosion or subsidence, and no violations of the border agreement were detected. The border area remains stable, with no incidents of cross-border farming, illegal grazing, or unauthorized crossings. Importantly, social order and security along the shared borderline continue to be maintained.

The patrol mission is conducted through various terrains.

However, they acknowledged the continued presence of potential risks, such as illegal border crossings, cross-border grazing, and the trafficking and transport of narcotics.

Representatives from both sides inspect a national border landmark.
Commanders of the two units exchange gifts following the patrol.

The two sides agreed to further enhance coordination in patrol activities and promptly share information on cross-border farming and grazing by local residents to jointly devise appropriate solutions.
