From educating members on their civil rights and obligations to volunteering in the preparation of local infrastructure, the younger generation is playing a vital role in this major political event. In Mường Ảng, for example, members from 53 local youth branches have worked alongside authorities to clean village roads, decorate community centers, and set up polling areas. They have also formed volunteer teams to assist residents, particularly the elderly and those in remote regions, ensuring everyone has access to clear election information.
Lù Văn Vinh, Vice Secretary of the Mường Ảng Youth Union, noted that given the challenges of mountainous terrain, these volunteers have been indispensable in bringing information directly to individual households in the furthest villages.
Among the prominent young figures running for office this term is Mùa Chiến Thắng, Vice Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front and Secretary of the provincial Youth Union. Standing as a candidate for the provincial People’s Council in Polling Area No.8, covering the communes of Sín Thầu, Mường Nhé, Mường Toong, Nậm Kè, and Quảng Lâm, he views his candidacy as both a great honor and a heavy responsibility. For him, this is the ultimate platform to channel the intelligence and energy of the youth into provincial development. He has pledged that, if elected, he will strive to be a dedicated voice for the people, particularly the younger generation, to build a more prosperous Điện Biên.
The festival also marks a milestone for many first-time voters, such as Phạm Quốc Việt, a 12th-grade student at Lương Thế Vinh School. For Việt, casting his first ballot is a sign of maturity as he officially becomes an 18-year-old citizen. He shared a sense of pride and honor, having spent time researching the candidates and the significance of the vote through school activities and the media. He understands that his ballot is more than just a right; it is a vessel for his trust and expectations in the representatives who will mirror the will of the people.
As the election day draws near, the creative and dedicated spirit of Điện Biên’s youths is not only contributing to the success of the national festival but also affirming the responsibility of the next generation in the province’s journey toward the future.
