Youths active in remote villages

ĐBP - Amid highland mountains and forests, the green color of volunteer shirts presence on hill fields, rural roads, social security activities, and journeys bringing digital transformation to every village.

Through youthfulness, pioneer spirit, and responsibility, Điện Biên youths contribute through practical deeds, accompanying residents to overcome hardships, beautifying rural appearances, and spreading fine community values.

During mid-July days on Mường village hill slopes in Mường Mùn commune, over 20 union members from the Mường Mùn commune Youth Union and Phenikaa University Youth Union (Hà Nội) diligently dug holes, applied basal fertilizer, and planted each coffee tree. From early morning, volunteer footsteps arrived on hill fields, with some digging holes, others transporting saplings, and others filling soil as picks and shovels echoed alongside lively conversations amidst mountains and forests, planting 1,000 coffee trees across Lò Văn Lâm’s family area within merely two days.

Lâm’s family lacks labor hands with children working far away, leaving him and his wife anxious over lacking personnel to dig holes and plant on schedule despite receiving sapling and fertilizer support from local authorities. Grasping that situation, the Executive Board of Mường Mùn commune Youth Union connected with the Phenikaa University Youth Union to organize volunteer labor support, helping Lâm’s family deploy coffee planting promptly.

Watching coffee rows gradually cover the hill slope, Lò Văn Lâm moved to share that if only two spouses worked, it would take many weeks to complete, adding that having youths join hands reassures his family to care for the coffee area, develop the economy, and secure additional stable income.

According to Mường Mùn commune Youth Union Deputy Secretary Điêu Văn Muôn, Youth Union volunteer activities remain closely aligned with practical public demands, as each completed task shares labor production difficulties for households while providing youths opportunities to train, mature, and elevate community responsibility awareness.

Across numerous remote villages in Nà Tấu commune where phone signals reach yet digital utility access faces obstacles, youths serve as bridges bringing technology closer to residents. From guiding application installations and activating electronic identification accounts to using online public services, simple operations open opportunities for highland residents to access public services and digital utilities more conveniently.

Currently, Nà Tấu commune Youth Union holds 30 affiliated grassroots unions and branches with over 500 youths. The commune Youth Union established volunteer youth teams supporting digital transformation, regularly coordinating with forces to visit villages, guide application installations, update information on VNeID, use online public services, and familiarize residents with cashless payment methods.

Nà Tấu commune Youth Union Secretary Quàng Văn Tân noted that across numerous highland villages - especially areas densely populated by ethnic minorities - technology access presents difficulties, prompting youths to accompany residents patiently from the simplest operations, adding that when residents independently execute administrative procedures on phones, look up information, or use digital utilities, digital transformation truly enters life while youth roles receive affirmation through concrete deeds.

Beyond the digital transformation front, green shirts presence on village roads and residential areas in remote regions where waste collection and processing face hardships. Responding to the “Green Sunday” movement, 100% of Youth Union bases across the province launched simultaneously to clear brush, collect waste, dredge drainage ditches, tend trees, and refurbish cultural houses and community points, making numerous residential areas cleaner and more open to create bright, green, clean, and beautiful rural appearances.

Following launch drives, numerous youth organizations maintain environmental self-management models, conducting periodic village road cleanups, disseminating waste sorting and processing at source, and limiting single-use plastic products, gradually shaping environmental preservation awareness across the community.

These tasks represent a portion of the vibrant picture of the 2026 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign. Across villages, youths eagerly repair rural transport roads, clean environments, refurbish residential areas, tend trees, support resident production development, organize summer activities for children, disseminate laws, and join social security activities.

Deploying the 2026 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign (Phase 2) from June 30 to July 29, youth organizations at all levels across the province mobilized 85,230 attendances by youths in volunteer activities, planted 8,050 new trees, supported 963 children in difficult circumstances, alongside numerous other practical activities.

According to provincial Youth Union Deputy Secretary Lò Xuân Hạnh, the target of volunteer activities involves bringing green shirts to difficult areas where residents need youth companionship, adding that as youths cling to grassroots levels, stay attached to villages, and execute tasks originating from practical public needs, each activity delivers practical value to consolidate public trust toward the Youth Union and promote pioneer youth roles in building the homeland.

In villages facing hardships, youths write beautiful stories through concrete actions and a spirit of responsibility, with each completed project and task contributing to building the homeland while nurturing trust and cohesion between youth organizations and the people, standing as sustainable values delivered by the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign on the journey building an increasingly developing Điện Biên.
