Welcoming peaceful spring from safe stalls

ĐBP - As the 2026 Lunar New Year (Tết) approaches, rising consumption demand has made the market in Điện Biên province increasingly vibrant.

To ensure that every family welcomes the spring season joyfully and completely, functional forces in the province have been strengthening inspections, supervision, and the management of supply sources to promptly detect and strictly handle violations regarding food hygiene, safety, and commercial fraud. Currently, the whole province has 6,051 food production and business establishments, including 711 food production units, 3,676 food trading units, 1,218 dining service establishments, and 446 street food businesses.

Implementing Plan No.91/KH-UBND dated January 6, 2026, of the provincial people’s committee regarding food safety for the 2026 Lunar New Year and Spring Festival, interdisciplinary food safety steering committees from the provincial to commune and ward levels have established inspection teams. This includes one provincial-level interdisciplinary inspection team and 43 commune-level teams. These teams focus on strictly checking the origin and provenance of goods, product declaration files, food safety conditions in production and business, and ensuring that labeling and advertising comply with legal regulations.

The teams also take samples for testing when necessary to prevent unsafe food from circulating in the market. Before the holiday, these teams inspected 345 establishments, including 15 production units, 251 trading units, 71 dining services, and 8 street food stalls. Through these inspections, authorities fined one production establishment and ordered the destruction of three types of non-compliant products. Generally, the inspected establishments complied well and cooperated with the teams, showing improved awareness of food safety regulations.

Every holiday season, the goods market enters its most active consumption phase of the year. Items such as candies, alcohol, and processed foods are sold abundantly at markets, supermarkets, convenience stores, and via e-commerce. While the variety provides many choices for consumers, it also sets higher requirements for the inspection and control of goods. Đào Văn Dung from Đồi Cao village in Thanh An commune shared that while shopping for holiday candies, he pays close attention to reputable brands with clear origins and production dates to avoid low-quality goods. He expressed hope that authorities would conduct regular inspections so that people can use safe food as the new year draws near.

The holiday season is not only about supply and demand but also a test of market confidence. The Market Management Team No.3 of the provincial Market Management Department has launched peak campaigns against smuggling, commercial fraud, and counterfeit goods for the period before, during, and after the 2026 Lunar New Year. The team has deployed 24-hour standing forces to monitor the area and promptly prevent violations. Since October, the Market Management Team No.3 has checked 37 cases, handling 19 violations and contributing more than VND 110,000,000 to the state budget.

Nguyễn Văn Tuyền, Deputy Head of the Market Management Team No.3, stated that alongside handling violations, the team emphasizes dissemination and legal dissemination during inspections to help business households improve their procedures. This proactive approach helps stabilize the market and protect consumer rights. Lương Đình Trọng, owner of the Trọng Dinh grocery store at Phủ market in Thanh An commune, mentioned that they proactively prepare supplies with clear origins and list prices according to regulations. He expressed support for the transparent inspections and reminders provided by the authorities. For a complete spring meal, the focus is not just on the supply of goods but also on the collective effort to maintain a healthy market and say no to counterfeit or low-quality products.
