Each completed and inaugurated house helps families settle down, instilling faith and motivation for them to work with peace of mind, develop their household economies, and progressively strive toward prosperous, stable lives.

During the closing days of August 2026, joy arrived for 8 households facing exceptional hardships across Mường Ảng, Na Son, Na Sang, and Mường Phăng communes as their new houses were finalized and put into operation. This stands as the result of coordination between the Dân trí Newspaper, the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, local Party committees and administrations, and the People’s Police Academy.

From makeshift, deteriorating dwellings, these households now enjoy solid, safer living quarters, particularly amid the increasingly complex developments of weather and natural disasters across mountainous regions.

For Lò Văn Phòng in Hua Ná village, Mường Ảng commune, the new dwelling is a joy his family had long anticipated. Tight economic conditions rendered building a solid home on their own almost beyond the household’s means, yet the assistance from all levels, sectors, and benevolent hearts helped turn that dream into reality. Lò Văn Phòng shared that his family previously faced extreme hardship without funds for home construction, expressing deep gratitude for the support extended by benefactors and authorities.

Over the years, the Dân trí Newspaper has rolled out Compassion programs directed toward vulnerable circumstances throughout Điện Biên province. Coordinating with the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and local authorities, families facing housing difficulties are surveyed, verified, and thoroughly evaluated, creating the foundation to connect these cases and mobilize collective support from readers, organizations, individuals, and benefactors.

Residing in Púng Giắt village, Mường Pồn commune, Lò Thị Sà single-handedly cares for her ailing daughter while earning a livelihood for the two of them. Advanced age, frail health, and meager economic means forced the mother and daughter to endure living in a severely dilapidated home for years. Benefiting from the care of local Party committees and authorities, in early 2026, her family received financial aid to build a new house, and with assistance from relatives before this year’s rainy season, the family relocated into a sturdy dwelling to stabilize their lives.

From mobilized resources and connections established by the Việt Nam Fatherland Front at all levels, since the start of the year, Mường Pồn commune has witnessed the construction and handover of 10 Great Solidarity houses to poor and underprivileged households. Tòng Văn Dinh, Vice Chairman of the commune Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committee and Chairman of the commune Veterans’ Association, noted that these new shelters ease housing anxieties, imparting added drive to labor, produce, and rise out of hardship.

To ensure resources reach the eligible beneficiaries, the Fatherland Front collaborates with local authorities and socio-political organizations to review, evaluate, and appraise dossiers directly at residential areas, prioritizing households with members receiving social protection allowances, facing serious illnesses, living alone, elderly persons, or those exposed to natural disaster risks.

Screening results show that since the beginning of the year, the entire province recorded 162 poor and near-poor households across 38 communes and wards meeting eligibility standards for Great Solidarity housing assistance, encompassing 151 poor households and 11 near-poor households. Supported by VND 50 million per dwelling from the “For the Poor” Fund, 50 brick houses, 54 wooden houses, 15 stilt houses, and 43 iron-frame houses have been completed and put into service.

According to Pờ Diệu Ninh, Vice Chairwoman of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the province and President of the provincial Women’s Union, attending to housing for the impoverished represents more than delivering material structures - it provides a crucial foundation for families to stabilize their lives. Along with the attention of the Party and State, Điện Biên has mobilized diverse resources to execute campaigns eliminating temporary and dilapidated homes, aiding the new construction and repair of thousands of dwellings for policy-beneficiary, poor, and near-poor families.

Nonetheless, with an expansive territory and persistent hardships among segments of the populace alongside modest local resources, companionship from organizations, individuals, enterprises, and benefactors remains imperative.

While the journey of housing support entails substantial work ahead, under Party leadership, administrative governance, Fatherland Front coordination, and community solidarity, new homes will continue rising across highland villages, nurturing public trust and willpower so the impoverished possess a firmer footing to rise above poverty and build secure lives.
