VNeID - Bringing digital utilities closer to the people

ĐBP - To enable citizens to effectively use level-2 VNeID electronic identification accounts, police forces across Điện Biên province have actively gone down to the grassroots, directly guiding the installation and usage of features on the application.

This approachable and practical method helps local residents gradually familiarize themselves with the digital environment and efficiently exploit services right on their smartphones.

Recently, in Mường Mươn 2 village, Mường Pồn commune, to help people effectively access digital utilities on the VNeID application, the commune police force went directly down to the village to propagate and guide citizens on integrating social security accounts. Through this drive, the commune police activated electronic identities, integrated health insurance, bank accounts, and activated level-2 electronic identification for 81 cases.

Instead of just supporting operations on phones, police officers directly guided and explained each feature and utility of the application. This “hand-holding” approach has made contents that were once considered difficult to access - especially for the elderly - much more understandable and approachable.

“I have been using VNeID for a long time, but mainly just to view personal information,” shared Lường Thị Thu from Mường Mươn 2 village. “After being guided, I learned about many more features such as the electronic health record, residency information, and how to use integrated documents. Now, wherever I go, I don’t have to carry as many papers as before.”

In reality, common difficulties residents face when using VNeID include forgetting passwords, changing phone numbers, or not being proficient in document integration. Therefore, receiving direct guidance has helped citizens feel more confident in using technology, step-by-step exploiting digital utilities to serve their daily lives.

Coming to authenticate his child’s academic record at the Mường Pồn commune People’s Committee, Chá A Tà from Huổi Un village clearly felt the convenience when a lot of information and documents had already been integrated into the VNeID application.

“Previously, every time I went to handle administrative procedures, I had to prepare many types of papers, and if any were missing, I had to go back to get them, which was very time-consuming,” Chá A Tà said. “Since being guided on how to use VNeID and integrating the necessary documents, processing procedures has become much more convenient. I only need to bring my phone to present the information when needed, which is both quick and saves travel effort.”

In Mường Chà commune, VNeID usage guidance sessions by the commune police take place in a close and easy-to-understand atmosphere. Besides introducing outstanding utilities of the application, police officers directly support residents in integrating documents and answer queries during usage.

Lieutenant Colonel Lèng Văn Tuân, Chief of Mường Chà commune Police, noted: “Not only do we guide the installation and use of the application, but we also help people form a habit of utilizing digital services in their daily lives, thereby step-by-step improving digital skills and the capability to access digital utilities right at the grassroots level.”

To make the digital utilities on VNeID truly effective in daily life, dissemination and user guidance activities are being widely deployed from the provincial down to the grassroots level. In early June, the “Digital Summer with VNeID” campaign - jointly organized by the Police Department for Administrative Management of Social Order (PC06) of the Provincial Police and the Provincial Youth Union - attracted the participation of 60 delegates representing various departments, boards, and sectors at the central broadcasting point, alongside over 450 delegates at online grassroots broadcasting points.

Through the program, delegates were updated on core contents of Project 06, guided on how to effectively exploit electronic identification accounts and new features on the VNeID application. Beyond equipping knowledge and skills to use digital platforms, this was also an opportunity for each officer and youth union member to become a bridge, supporting citizens to access and efficiently use digital utilities in their daily lives.

From an application that was quite unfamiliar to many people a few years ago, VNeID is now gradually becoming a useful tool in daily life. The utilities integrated into the app help citizens save time, reduce paperwork, and easily access public services. This also marks a step forward in the journey of building digital citizens and a digital society from the grassroots level.
