However, large volumes of soil and rock from flash floods and landslides, amounting to thousands of cubic meters, have cut off and isolated many areas, making it extremely difficult for technical crews to reach affected sites and carry out repairs.

Once crews reached the scene, they quickly inspected and assessed the damage, then concentrated resources on restoring the power grid. As of 11:30a.m. on August 2, electricity had been restored to 314 customers via 4 transformer stations in Suối Lư, Huổi Po, and Báng Trọc villages (Na Son commune), and Chống Sư 1 village (Xa Dung commune).

For the remaining 8,646 customers across 93 transformer stations (in Phình Giàng, Xa Dung, Mường Luân, and Tìa Dình communes), the company’s command center has divided its workforce into three teams with specific assignments to access the sites and make repairs. It is expected that by 7:00 p.m. the same day, power will be restored to 66 of the 97 affected transformer stations, bringing electricity back to 5,369 of the 8,960 impacted customers.
