Over recent years, the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels across Điện Biên province intensified propaganda and mobilized people from all walks of life to actively participate in environmental protection through concrete and practical actions.

Environmental protection is consistently designated by the Standing Boards of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels across the province as a paramount task linked to the campaign “All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban zones.” Annually, the Fatherland Front at all levels coordinates proactively with local authorities and member organizations to conduct activities responding to World Environment Day, the Clean Up the World Campaign, and environmental events, thereby elevating community awareness and responsibility in preserving landscapes and protecting living environments.

Responding to the movement “All people join hands to protect the environment, for a green, clean, and beautiful Việt Nam,” the provincial Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committee directed the Fatherland Front across all 45 out of 45 communes and wards to deploy launch activities simultaneously. From urban centers to highland villages, tens of thousands of cadres, union members, association members, and residents joined general environmental cleanups, collecting waste, clearing village roads and alleys, dredging drainage ditches, planting trees, and refurbishing residential areas. During the early June 2026 launch alone, over 102,000 participants joined across 1,446 villages and residential groups, 78 schools, and 170 agencies and units, collecting and processing over 20 tons of waste while cleaning hundreds of kilometers of transport routes.

Alongside launch drives, the Fatherland Front at all levels continues mobilizing residents to sort waste at source, limit plastic bag usage, process organic waste into fertilizer, and maintain and replicate self-management environmental models such as “Residential areas protecting the environment and responding to climate change” and “Environmental sanitation self-management teams,” gradually turning environmental preservation into a regular activity in every residential area.

Huổi Phạ village in Điện Biên Phủ ward - established through merging Huổi Phạ village, Tân Quang village, and the Lọong Hỏm cluster - currently counts 306 households with 1,047 residents. Promoting solidarity, the party cell, Front Work Board, and mass organizations mobilized residents to maintain periodic environmental sanitation, clear village roads, dredge drainage ditches, collect waste, refurbish home grounds, and plant additional trees.

Lò Văn Cương, a resident of Huổi Phạ village, shared that village roads previously contained much grass and trash, but since the movement to build green, clean, and beautiful villages started, residents raised their awareness, joining hands to clean up and clear roads to keep the village clean, open, and conducive to a better living environment.

Alongside building green, clean, and beautiful landscapes, numerous localities link environmental protection with community health care. In Mường Thanh ward, the Ward Women’s Union intensified propaganda regarding tobacco harm prevention through branch meetings and residential activities.

Vũ Thị Thiên Anh, Vice Chairwoman of the Mường Thanh Ward Women’s Union, noted that while no female union members smoke, men in many families maintain smoking habits that expose women and children to passive smoke regularly. Facing that reality, the union stepped up propaganda to help members understand tobacco harms, mobilizing relatives to refrain from smoking indoors and limit smoking in public places to construct a safe and healthy living environment.

In Pú Nhung commune, waste is viewed as a reusable resource.

Building on the efficiency of the model “Green house, turning waste into money” deployed in Rạng Đông village in 2025, the Pú Nhung commune Women’s Union expanded the model to Bon A, Chua Lú, and Nọong Luông villages in 2026. Monthly, members collect plastic bottles, scrap paper, beverage cans, and other scrap materials. Every quarter or six months, collected materials are sold to generate funds for visiting members facing difficulties and encouraging collectives and individuals actively joining the movement.

Cà Thị Sẹn, Vice Chairwoman of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committee and Chairwoman of the Women’s Union of Pú Nhung commune, stated that through deploying the “Green house, turning waste into money” model, the most evident change lies in the positive shift in awareness among members and residents who proactively sort recyclable waste at home and collect it periodically to raise funds. She added that although funds raised are modest, they serve to visit members facing hardship and encourage active participants, allowing the model to protect the environment while spreading a spirit of sharing across the community.

Environmental protection remains a long-term task requiring synchronous involvement from the entire political system alongside public response. Promoting its core role in gathering and mobilizing all-people national solidarity, the Fatherland Front at all levels continues integrating environmental protection content into the campaign “All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban zones,” building models tailored to local practicalities. As every citizen elevates awareness, the environment will grow greener and cleaner, establishing a solid foundation for sustainable development goals and elevating public quality of life.
