The forum “Trade Unions Listen to Union Members and Workers Speak” organized by the provincial Labor Federation stands as a testament to creating a space for members to express their thoughts and aspirations, contributing to building harmonious labor relations and consolidating trust in trade union organizations.
Over recent years, provincial trade unions at all levels have continuously renovated their operations by placing union members at the center and drawing from the practical needs of workers to formulate action plans. Direct dialogue forums have enabled workers to exchange views and reflect on difficulties arising during their work processes.
At Điện Biên Cement Joint Stock Company, listening to the thoughts and aspirations of union members and workers is defined as a regular duty. Gathering nearly 300 cadres and workers across seven trade union groups, all grassroots petitions are compiled by the union for timely resolution. Nguyễn Văn Hòa, Chairman of the Grassroots-level Trade Union of Điện Biên Cement Joint Stock Company, noted that the enterprise operates in heavy industry with inherent occupational safety risks, prompting the trade union to advise the Board of Directors through dialogue sessions to continuously improve working conditions.
Prompted by union members’ petitions, Điện Biên Cement Joint Stock Company strengthened occupational safety guarantees and welfare policies. The company adjusted shift meal values upward for direct laborers, built a salary increase roadmap for all personnel, and awarded a 13th-month salary bonus to 100% of workers, thereby safeguarding worker rights and motivating long-term commitment to the enterprise.
Điện Biên Rubber Joint Stock Company employs over 800 workers, most of whom are trade union members. Given its expansive production terrain and workforce distributed across plantations and production teams, the company’s trade union regards listening to members as a core task. Through periodic dialogues, union meetings, and direct field visits, thoughts regarding salaries, regimes, and working conditions are gathered to coordinate with leadership for prompt resolution.
Vừ A Cú, a trade union member at the company, shared that because worker opinions are absorbed and resolved promptly, workers feel reassured and attached to the firm. The receptive attitude of the union builds trust, encouraging workers to share operational issues while offering initiatives to boost production efficiency.
The Provincial Labor Federation recently organized the forum “Trade Unions Listen to Union Members and Workers Speak” to allow members and workers to directly reflect their aspirations and petitions exceeding grassroots-level union authority. Many opinions focused on issues impacting employment, income, labor conditions, and social welfare regimes.
During the forum, healthcare sector union members voiced concerns following the transition of orderly staff at public medical facilities to labor contracts under Government Decree No.111/2022/NĐ-CP, hoping trade unions will refine policy mechanisms to guarantee stable employment, income, and long-term rights for workers.
In the corporate sector, discussions centered on maintaining and expanding impactful care programs such as “Cozy Tết,” “Trade Union Bus - Spring 2027,” “Trade Union Supermarkets,” and Workers’ Month activities. Furthermore, delegates proposed solutions to protect workers when enterprises face hardship or cease operations, alongside handling delayed or delinquent social insurance contributions.
Across the province, 7,426 union members operate within 74 grassroots-level trade unions. Listening to grassroots feedback allowed trade unions to resolve issues regarding salaries, working conditions, welfare regimes, and labor safety. In the first six months of 2026 alone, 39 out of 42 enterprises held worker conferences, creating forums for employees to directly express views and participate in shaping regulations and policies affecting their rights.
Tẩn Minh Long, Chairman of the provincial Labor Federation, affirmed that the forum serves as a direct dialogue channel helping trade unions listen to and understand member aspirations, thereby innovating activities and elevating representation and care quality. When worker voices are heard and answered through concrete actions, trust in trade union organizations is fortified, contributing to building harmonious and stable labor relations.
Practical experience demonstrates that when union members are listened to and legitimate petitions are absorbed into reality, trade unions become reliable anchors for workers. This serves as a foundation for provincial trade unions at all levels to continue innovating operational methods with members at the center - better caring for worker lives, protecting legitimate rights, and accompanying the sustainable development of enterprises and Điện Biên province.
