Tickets home for Tết bring warmth to migrant workers

ĐBP - As the buzz of spring signals the approach of the 2026 Lunar New Year (Tết), nothing matters more to many migrant workers than returning home to celebrate with their families.

Aware of those longings and hardships, the Điện Biên provincial Federation of Labor has provided complimentary bus tickets, helping workers make the journey home in time for the Tết holiday. Each ticket is more than a ride - it is a gesture of care, restoring confidence and encouraging workers to stay committed to their jobs in the year ahead.

Leaders of the Điện Biên provincial Federation of Labor present financial support for bus tickets to union members and workers at the program “Warm Tết reunion - Spring in gratitude to the Party.”

For the Tết holiday, the federation funded 100 bus tickets to help union members and workers reunite with loved ones in the early days of spring. The support reflects the timely care and solidarity of the trade union organization. The selection process - from screening to compiling beneficiary lists - was carried out carefully, publicly and transparently, ensuring assistance reached the right people in genuine need.

Originally from Phú Thọ province, with two school-age children and aging parents back home, Bùi Thị Lừng of Nậm Pồ Medical Center has not been able to return home for Tết in more than four years. Each spring in the remote highlands deepened her quiet homesickness. This year, the ticket support rekindled a simple but profound joy - turning what was once longing in a distant land into warm laughter at a family reunion.

“When I received the bus ticket support from the provincial Federation of Labor, I was truly grateful”, Lừng said. “It gives me the chance to reunite with my family after a long separation and motivates me to continue caring for people’s health in the highlands.”

Tẩn Minh Long, Chairman of the Điện Biên provincial Federation of Labor, presents bus ticket support to union members of the grassroots-level trade union at Mường Nhé Medical Center.

During the 2026 Lunar New Year, six union members at Nậm Pồ Medical Center received similar support. Six tickets, six journeys, but the same shared joy shining in their smiles.

Nguyễn Bá Vương, representative of the grassroots trade union at Nậm Pồ Medical Center, said the support goes beyond financial assistance. For medical staff who work tirelessly in remote and underserved communities, it is a meaningful show of understanding and encouragement, reinforcing their dedication to public health.

Each Tết season, Điện Biên Cement Joint Stock Company also supports workers with bus tickets home - an annual initiative that underscores the company’s sense of responsibility toward employees who have contributed to its growth.

The Tuần Giáo communal trade union provides bus ticket support for union members of the grassroots-level trade union of Mạnh Quân Investment and Construction Co., Ltd., enabling them to return home for Tết.

Nguyễn Văn Hòa, Chairman of the company’s trade union, said 50 bus tickets were provided for the 2026 Lunar New Year of the Horse. “This practical support reflects the company’s care for workers, helping make each journey home more complete and heartfelt”, he said.

For Hoàng Thị Hân, a worker at the company’s raw materials workshop, this year’s trip home feels warmer thanks to the travel support. “I was deeply moved”, she said. “The company’s support not only eases financial pressure but also shows its genuine companionship with workers.”

With every spring, these heartfelt tickets have become bridges of connection between workplaces and hometowns. The joint efforts of the provincial Federation of Labor and businesses demonstrate tangible responsibility and care for workers. After cherished reunions, union members return to their posts renewed and motivated, ready to contribute to the development of their units, enterprises and hometown.
