Talks on breakthrough science and technology initiatives

ĐBP -  On the morning of March 29, the Điện Biên provincial Department of Science and Technology held a working session with Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) and STEAM for Vietnam to discuss breakthrough science and technology (S&T) initiatives for 2025 and beyond.

Representatives from relevant departments and agencies also attended. They agreed to collaborate and support multiple pioneering S&T projects across six key sectors.

Điện Biên currently has 11 approved urgent S&T projects for 2025, along with 39 breakthrough initiatives spanning healthcare, education, culture and tourism, agriculture and environment, digital transformation, and defense and security. During the meeting, participants shared insights to refine project objectives, assess real-world needs, and explore cooperation opportunities.

In healthcare, HUST, the provincial Department of Health, and the provincial General Hospital discussed the implementation of electronic medical records, digital health records, advancements in medical imaging, and remote healthcare services. HUST committed to developing the necessary IT infrastructure for electronic medical records, aiming for completion by September 30.

In education, HUST and STEAM for Vietnam agreed to enhance AI literacy for teachers and education administrators in Điện Biên. In the agriculture and environment sector, HUST expressed its readiness to contribute to 11 out of 18 identified breakthrough S&T initiatives, with further discussions planned with the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment in the coming days.

The culture and tourism sector will focus on digitizing historical site data related to the Battle of Điện Biên Phủ, while defense and security efforts will explore specialized technological applications to enhance sector-specific operations.

Trần Tố Uyên, Country Director of STEAM for Vietnam, shares insights on the organization’s capacity in AI education for educators and administrators.

Following the discussions, Vũ Anh Dũng, Director of the provincial Department of Science and Technology, urged all parties to take immediate action, assigning focal points for each sector to promptly tackle challenges within a clear timeline. The department pledged to continue working alongside local agencies, HUST, and STEAM for Vietnam to ensure effective project implementation.
