At the Háng Pu Xi resettlement area in Xa Dung commune (Điện Biên province), soldiers are working tirelessly to construct homes for families who lost everything in the recent flash floods. Each brick and batch of mortar is laid with a sense of duty and determination.
“My family and many others lost our homes and belongings in the floods. Life became extremely difficult”, said Mùa Chồng Vừ, a resident of Háng Pu Xi. “Now, with support to rebuild our houses, people are truly happy. We are grateful to the Party, the State, and the army for caring about the highland communities.”
In Háng Pu Xi, border guard officers and soldiers are carrying bricks and bags of cement up steep slopes to rebuild homes. Major Trần Minh Hội, head of the border guard construction team, noted: “Upon receiving the mission, we assigned officers and soldiers with construction knowledge or experience to join the effort. Building houses during the rainy season is never easy, especially in the highlands with slippery roads and steep hills. But with our sense of duty and care for the people, everyone pushes through hardships to fulfill the task.”

The Defensive Area Command Region 3 - Na Son has been tasked with building and repairing homes for 17 households in Na Son and Mường Luân communes.
Colonel Nguyễn Hữu Nam, commander of the Defensive Area Command Region 3 - Na Son, said: “After receiving the order, our officers and soldiers worked with local authorities to survey available land. We mobilized manpower and vehicles to transport materials and rebuild homes on the designated sites. The relocation and construction are being carried out swiftly so that families can soon settle into stable lives.”
Given the severe damage caused by the disaster, the provincial armed forces have mobilized maximum personnel to support affected households. The provincial Military Command has deployed 378 officers and soldiers, together with Regiment 82 and Depot K79, to help residents rebuild.
To show determination in completing the mission, the provincial military Command has launched a special campaign - “30 days of speed - Reaching the finish line”. From August 30 to September 30, all units are competing in three categories: highest awareness, responsibility, and determination; best mission results; and strictest compliance with laws and discipline. The goal is to build 80 new houses and repair 241 others within September 2025.
Senior Colonel Nguyễn Trung Đắc, Political Commissar of the provincial Military Command, said: “This is a special campaign marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day. Building and repairing homes for the people is a meaningful act that reflects the joint efforts of society to restore livelihoods and stabilize life. Each completed house stands as a symbol of military-civilian solidarity, compassion, and humanity.”
