According to Tẩn Minh Long, President of the Federation of Labor of Điện Biên, this year’s Workers’ Month is designed to inspire widespread social attention, especially among employers and local authorities, toward employment, livelihoods, and other pressing worker-related issues. The provincial Federation of Labor has advised the provincial People’s Committee to organize a launch ceremony for both Workers’ Month and the Action Month for Occupational Safety and Health 2025, expecting an attendance of approximately 400 participants. The event will include awards for outstanding individuals and groups in ensuring workplace safety, gifts for victims and families affected by occupational accidents or diseases, and a parade through central routes in Điện Biên Phủ city.
A key highlight will be the program “Creative Workers: Confidently Entering a New Era”, featuring: Awareness campaigns encouraging members to pursue upskilling and adopt modern, efficient working habits; showcases of technical innovations and creative production improvements; and the 2025 Creative Labor Festival and contests for idea proposals, technical solutions, and process optimizations.

In addition, a dialogue between the provincial People’s Committee Chairman and workers will be held to directly address concerns and proposals from employees, aiming to resolve policy-related challenges and ensure fair treatment.
The provincial Federation of Labor also emphasizes union growth, particularly within non-State enterprises, and seeks to identify exemplary union members for Party admission.
To support disadvantaged workers, the provincial Federation of Labor has directed local and sectoral unions to proactively compile lists of workers facing occupational injuries, illnesses, or hardship. These workers will receive timely assistance, in partnership with employers.
Earlier in April, the provincial Federation of Labor presented 50 gift packages worth VND 25 million, sponsored by the Sóc Trăng provincial Labor Federation, to struggling workers in Điện Biên and Mường Nhé border areas. Additionally, in collaboration with the Delegation of National Assembly deputies of Điện Biên, another 50 gifts worth VND 500,000 each were distributed in Điện Biên district.
Coming up, the provincial Federation of Labor will provide VND 2 million per person to workers in especially difficult circumstances in Điện Biên Đông District and continue support for those affected by the early April windstorm.
One such recipient is Lò Văn Điểm, a member of the grassroots workers’ union at Mường Luân Ethnic Boarding Primary and Secondary School. Suffering from congenital thalassemia while his wife battles lupus, the family endures frequent hospital visits and cares for young, often-ill children, all while living with elderly parents in shared housing.
To help ease their burden, the provincial Federation of Labor presented Điểm with VND 2 million, encouraging the family to remain resilient and committed to their professional duties.
