In recent days, volunteer youth teams have played a key role in helping local people improve their digital capacity. Tens of thousands of residents have been guided to install and use online public services and the VNeID application, thereby strengthening e-government at the grassroots level.

According to Quàng Mạnh Hải, Deputy Head of Youth Affairs at the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front, 284 “Digital Literacy Teams” have been established, assisting over 47,730 people. Volunteers, mainly local youth union officials, members, student volunteers, and community digital teams, support residents in using computers, smartphones, the internet, and social media safely; guide them in electronic identification, online public services, and administrative registration. They also help commune and ward officials with data entry, digitalizing records, and organizing citizens at public service centers.
Given that most Điện Biên residents are ethnic minorities, the youth union has mobilized bilingual volunteers fluent in both Vietnamese and ethnic languages. “This is a crucial bridge, helping ethnic people who do not speak Vietnamese access administrative procedures. Volunteers also work with local village elders to spread accurate information, especially in remote areas with poor electricity and phone coverage,” Hải emphasized.

During this past Summer Volunteer Youth Campaign, a wide range of projects were completed. More than 100,000 youth members participated, planting 56,725 trees, repairing 110 km of rural roads, and building 1.1 km of new roads. Notably, they constructed 34 new houses and repaired 25 houses for poor families, exceeding initial targets. The campaign’s total value reached over 3 billion VND.
Beyond infrastructure, young volunteers also organized remembrance activities for heroic martyrs, including candlelight ceremonies at cemeteries on July 27. Programs like Exam Support and Red Flamboyant Summer helped thousands of students. Free swimming lessons were offered to 550 children, and scholarships worth over 400 million VND were given to disadvantaged students. Five rounds of Green Sunday mobilized more than 30,000 youth members to clean up the environment and promote anti-plastic campaigns.

Among many role models, Vàng A Gấu, Secretary of Tìa Dình commune’s Youth Union, stands out. During the historic flash flood in early August, he was one of the first on site, personally carrying three injured residents to safety and mobilizing nearly 300 young volunteers to assist rescue and recovery efforts. “I was born and raised in Tìa Dình, so I deeply understand the hardships here. The Youth Union work gives me the chance to connect with young people and lead meaningful projects for our community. I believe that if every young person makes an effort, Điện Biên’s youths can shine whether in remote mountains or in urban areas,” he shared.

Through concrete actions, Điện Biên’s youths have become a reliable force, addressing urgent local issues while spreading values of compassion, resilience, and responsibility. They are not only serving the community but also shaping the image of a generation ready to pioneer and build a better future for their homeland.
