According to statistics, prolonged heavy rain spells across Nậm Nèn commune from June 2026 to July 10, 2026, caused damage to crops, property, and housing, with total estimated values nearing VND 2 billion, including 9 households requiring urgent relocation out of unsafe hazard zones.

Lò Văn Quỳnh, Vice Chairman of the Nậm Nèn commune People’s Committee, noted that immediately following the natural disaster, adopting the “four on-the-spot” principle, Nậm Nèn commune urgently mobilized local forces, vehicles, and resources to support residents in relocating from unsafe areas to protect lives and assets, while rapidly reviewing, tallying, and evaluating damage levels to organize visits, encourage affected households, and deploy support measures.

Prolonged heavy rain caused the floor foundation of Vừ Nhè Páo’s house in Huổi Xuân village to subside, causing the positive slope embankment behind his house to slide and spill soil and rocks into living quarters. Upon receiving the report, Nậm Nèn commune urgently mobilized forces and vehicles to support the family in moving people and property to safety, with Páo sharing that during difficult moments, timely local care and support served as immense encouragement for his family.

Currently, the Nậm Nèn commune People’s Committee provided an emergency social allowance of VND 30 million to Lò Văn Thọ’s family in Nậm Nèn village to support the family in overcoming immediate difficulties and building a home. For remaining affected households, the commune is urgently finalizing dossiers and procedures to deploy timely support to correct beneficiaries in accordance with regulations, helping residents stabilize their lives and restore production early.

Thọ shared that the supported funds not only provide additional conditions to remedy consequences and rebuild housing, but also demonstrate the local government’s care and responsibility toward residents facing hardship and distress, adding that his family deeply appreciates this support and will utilize it for the intended purpose while striving to stabilize life soon.

Currently, weather conditions remain complex and unpredictable, with lingering risks of heavy rain, flash floods, and landslides, especially across steep terrain, weak soil foundations, and points displaying signs of instability. Facing this reality, Nậm Nèn commune designates natural disaster prevention and response as a regular task deployed early and proactively from afar, following the principle of avoiding passivity or surprise under any circumstance.

According to Lò Văn Quỳnh, in the coming period, Nậm Nèn commune will continue directing villages to proactively monitor and update weather developments, regularly reviewing and evaluating areas at risk of landslides, flash floods, and inundation to issue timely warnings, zone off hazards, and construct appropriate response plans. Concurrently, the locality will boost propaganda and mobilization to raise public natural disaster prevention awareness, urging residents to monitor warning information proactively, avoid complacency before abnormal weather developments, and stand ready to relocate people and property to safety when hazards emerge.
