From refurbishing classrooms, reviewing instructional equipment, and preparing boarding areas to training teachers and staff, tasks are being carried out synchronously to establish academic order right from the first days of the school year.
In the 2026-2027 school year, Mường Nhé Semi-Boarding Ethnic Secondary School has 33 classes with more than 1,200 students. To secure teaching and learning conditions, the school proactively formulated plans, assigned specific tasks, and focused on completing physical facilities, equipment, and dining, lodging, and living amenities for boarding students.
Teacher Dương Tiến Công, Principal of the school, stated that the school inspected, cleaned, and repaired necessary facilities while arranging instructional equipment and textbooks for teaching. The campus was cleaned and refurbished; boarding areas for dining, lodging, and daily activities were inspected and finalized, ready to welcome students back.
Alongside physical conditions, Mường Nhé Semi-Boarding Ethnic Secondary School focuses on political and ideological education for managerial cadres, teachers, and staff. According to Dương Tiến Công, early political training helps staff grasp sector guidelines and orientations firmly, raising awareness and responsibility. This fosters collective unity, contributing to building an orderly working environment and executing tasks effectively from the opening days of the school year.
While consolidating order and preparing staff receive priority at the lower secondary level, at the primary level, strengthening Vietnamese language skills for ethnic minority students is a core task. At Trần Văn Thọ Semi-Boarding Ethnic Primary School, this is identified as a vital priority for entry-grade students. In the 2026-2027 school year, the school has nearly 1,000 students, including 164 Grade 1 students, of whom 138 are ethnic minorities.
According to teacher Phạm Văn Khiêm, Principal of the school, to help students use Vietnamese more proficiently, the school organizes listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities tailored to each age group and learning capacity. Vietnamese reinforcement is integrated into class hours and educational activities, creating opportunities for students to communicate boldly, express thoughts, and gradually build language proficiency, thereby supporting effective knowledge acquisition.
Schools serve not only as learning spaces, but as environments for living, training, and building life skills. Therefore, securing boarding conditions ahead of the new school year receives special attention from schools. According to a report by the People’s Committee of Mường Nhé commune, as of August 19, the commune has 12 schools with 283 classes, 7,956 students, and 523 managers, teachers, and staff.
Phan Văn Uyên, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Mường Nhé commune, stated that the entire commune currently has 296 classrooms, 205 boarding rooms, and 18 subject-specific rooms. Among these, three temporary classrooms require repair and upgrading. Based on field reviews, schools have proactively maintained and repaired degraded items, completing classrooms, boarding quarters, kitchens, cafeterias, and ancillary facilities to ensure safety and convenience for students. Textbooks and teaching equipment have been inspected, supplemented, and arranged properly.
Along with preparing facilities, student mobilization was deployed early. Schools across the commune have mobilized school-age children to class, securing 100% of assigned enrollment targets, including admitting 633 Grade 1 students and 641 Grade 6 students. According to Phan Văn Uyên, to prepare for the new school year, the commune directed schools to execute their respective duties proactively while coordinating with agencies, units, and mass organizations to encourage student attendance and secure instructional conditions. Inspections were intensified to capture and resolve grassroots difficulties promptly.
A key priority for educational institutions in Mường Nhé is organizing safe boarding services and ensuring nutrition for students. Guided by sector directives, schools have proactively prepared cooking facilities, maintained proper allowances, controlled food sources, and monitored food processing procedures to guarantee food hygiene and safety.
Teacher Vũ Văn Nguyện, Principal of Nậm Pố Semi-Boarding Ethnic Primary School, shared that the school reviewed all conditions for boarding meals and lodging, from kitchens and utensils to food supplies, while assigning dedicated cadres and teachers to enforce food safety and hygiene regulations strictly to ensure nutritious meals. Student support policies continue to be reviewed and implemented fully and promptly, helping maintain enrollment and giving highland students peace of mind to attend school.
To date, schools across Mường Nhé commune have fundamentally completed preparations for the 2026-2027 school year. Classrooms, equipment, boarding areas, staff, and student support conditions have been reviewed and finalized with proactivity and responsibility. This helps students return to school on schedule, stabilizes routines quickly, and creates momentum to enhance education quality and care for students in border regions.
