Mường Ảng women excel in “skilful mass mobilization”

ĐBP - Being flexible and creative in movements suitable for the practical conditions of each locality, the “skilful mass mobilization” models deployed by the Women’s Union of Mường Ảng commune have recently gone into depth, creating a vibrant meeting atmosphere. These models have spread strongly, inspiring a spirit of solidarity and a proactive drive to advance among each member.

Notably, the “skilful mass mobilization” movement of the Mường Ảng commune Women’s Union does not stop at slogans or temporary activities, but is concretized by models suitable for the practical conditions of each area. The union determines that all activities must be strongly oriented toward the grassroots level, taking the branch as the center and directly linking with the practical needs and interests of its members.

The women’s union branches of Residential Group 8 and Pú Khớ village organize a meeting to exchange experiences on grassroots-level women’s activities.

In early 2026, the “1+1” model between the Women’s Union branch of residential group 8 and Pú Khớ village was deployed, leaving a distinct mark. This is a model connecting an effectively operating branch with a branch facing many difficulties to strengthen support, share experiences, and step-by-step improve the quality of union activities.

Early in the morning, Đoàn Thị Minh Thu, Head of the Women’s Union branch of Residential Group 8, along with its members, arrived at Pú Khớ village. After visiting several member families, everyone went down to the stream bank area to inspect the newly planted bamboo. The branch of residential group 8 supported the planting of 20 bamboo clusters along the stream bank where there is a risk of landslides to retain soil, prevent erosion, and create long-term livelihoods for members in Pú Khớ village.

Members of the two branches exchanged experiences on how to generate additional income for their families from bamboo, such as splitting bamboo ties and weaving baskets and colanders to sell for the union fund. During the broom grass season, they can harvest raw materials to make brooms for the market, while harvested bamboo shoots will be pre-processed, preserved, and connected for sale at local agricultural stores to create additional income sources for members’ families.

After just a few months of accompanying the Women’s Union branch of residential group 8, the meeting atmosphere of the Pú Khớ village Women’s Union branch has seen many positive changes. Shifting from a hesitant mindset and reluctance to participate in collective activities, many members have now become more confident in communication, proactively exchanging experiences on economic development, family care, and child-rearing. Sessions of going down to the village together to plant bamboo or discussing ways to raise funds not only create more livelihoods but also serve as opportunities for the women to become closer, share, and learn from one another.

Vừ Thị Và, Head of the Pú Khớ village Women’s Union branch, shared: “The women are now more active in attending meetings than before, with many proactively exchanging experiences on doing business and developing the family economy. Most importantly, members are placing more trust in and bonding closer with the union organization, striving together to build an increasingly strong branch.”

Not limited to the “1+1” model, several other skilful mass mobilization models previously deployed by the Mường Ảng commune Women’s Union have brought clear efficiency. “The Green House - Turning waste into money” is a model implemented since October 2025 across 38 women’s union branches in the commune.

Starting from a small but practical activity, the model has contributed to step-by-step changing public awareness about environmental protection. The situation of scattered waste has significantly decreased. The entire amount of money collected from selling scrap materials is used to support disadvantaged members and maintain union operations. This model is also recognized by the higher-level Women’s Union as highly practical, easy to implement, and suitable for replication among other women’s union branches and mass organizations across the province.

Concurrently with environmental protection activities, the Mường Ảng commune Women’s Union focuses on deploying economic development support models to help members raise their living standards. Among these, the “Self-managed Financial Savings Group” model has promoted positive efficiency.

Each member periodically contributes savings according to shares regulated by the group, at a rate from VND 50,000 to VND 100,000 per share. The fund source is used for revolving loans among members to develop the family economy, buy breeding animals, animal feed, or support their children’s education. By April 2026, each group had saved over VND 30 million. Through the model, many members have formed a habit of regular savings, proactively accumulating resources for difficult times or gaining more capital for production investment.

Cardboard boxes and cans are collected by women members of Residential Group 8, limiting waste discharged into the environment.

According to Vice President of the Mường Ảng commune Women’s Union Nguyễn Thị Thúy, stemming from the reality that several women’s union branches in highland villages still face hardships, the Union always focuses on building suitable, practical, and easy-to-implement models. Especially, from the initial efficiency of the “1+1” model between the branch of residential group 8 and Pú Khớ village, the union level will continue to replicate it in many other localities in the coming time.

Through flexibility and creativity in its approach, the “skilful mass mobilization” model of the Mường Ảng commune Women’s Union not only helps members develop the economy, raise environmental protection awareness, and build a spirit of community solidarity, but also asserts the role of women in local socio-economic development, contributing to strengthening an increasingly robust union organization.
