More than ten days ago, the Command of Defensive Area 4 in Mường Ảng cooperated with the Party Committee and authorities of Pú Nhung Commune to support local households impacted by floods. According to statistics, the commune had seven families in urgent need of relocation. The armed forces immediately focused on moving families from high-risk landslide areas and assisted them in building and repairing their homes. Together with the commune authorities, the command reviewed and allocated safe land, mobilized manpower and equipment, and helped residents rebuild houses on surveyed sites. Thanks to timely support, relocation and construction of new homes have been carried out promptly, enabling affected families to soon regain stability.

Lieutenant Colonel Trần Trung Kiên, Commander of Defensive Area 4 in Mường Ảng, affirmed that urgent relocation, housing construction, and repair work were not only immediate needs but also a demonstration of the responsibility and affection of the armed forces for the people. These activities helped minimize disaster losses, ensured safety, and strengthened residents’ trust in the care and support of the Party and State. He emphasized that this was an important motivation for people to feel secure in working, producing, and settling down for the long term.
Regardless of sun or rain, the Border Guard’s officers and soldiers tirelessly carried bricks and cement uphill to help poor households rebuild homes after the disaster. With sweat-soaked uniforms and calloused hands, they persevered so that local residents could soon have new shelters and overcome hardships.

According to assignments, the working team led by Second Lieutenant Tô Quang Huy from the Political Department of the provincial Border Guard Command was tasked with supporting 23 households in Háng Pu Xi village, Xa Dung Commune, to build new homes. The work was arduous, made even more challenging by the narrow and slippery roads that prevented vehicles from transporting materials to the construction sites. From the gathering point to each household was often 400-500 meters, forcing officers and soldiers to divide into groups and take turns carrying cement, bricks, sand, iron, and steel to each family. “To maintain strength and progress, we rotate carrying materials so that everyone has a share of the work, determined to complete the houses quickly so families can stabilize their lives,” shared Second Lieutenant Huy.
In Sín Thầu commune, 40 border guards are also working diligently to build seven houses for households affected by natural disasters. They actively transport materials, mix and pour concrete foundations, and erect columns for local families. Lieutenant Colonel Phan Ngọc Toản, Commander of the Leng Su Sìn Border Post, noted that by August 24, all house foundations had been leveled and materials fully stockpiled. Several houses had completed foundations and were beginning the stage of pouring columns and building walls. Despite heavy rains, the soldiers worked with great effort and enthusiasm to help residents quickly secure new homes, thereby spreading the spirit of responsibility and solidarity between the military and the people at the nation’s frontier.

Immediately after the floods, the provincial armed forces mobilized maximum manpower to support housing construction and repair in disaster-hit areas. The provincial Military Command deployed 378 personnel, including 258 from the standing force, 70 border guards, and 50 militia members, with additional support from units such as Regiment 82 (200 personnel) and Depot K79 (10 personnel). Their plan is to help build 80 new houses, including 34 individual homes and 46 resettlement houses in Sín Thầu, Na Son, Xa Dung, and Tìa Dình Communes. So far, work has begun on 43 of these homes. By the end of August 2025, resettlement sites in Háng Pu Xi and Trống Sư A (Xa Dung commune) and Tìa Mùng (Tìa Dình commune) are expected to be handed over with an additional 37 houses. Alongside new construction, soldiers are repairing 241 damaged houses, with 97 already under repair in Na Son, Xa Dung, Mường Luân, and Tìa Dình communes.
The large-scale mobilization of officers and soldiers to grassroots areas not only accelerates the progress of housing construction and repair but also reflects the care and responsibility of the armed forces toward disaster-affected communities. Their efforts have helped people quickly settle down, feel secure in their livelihoods, and strengthen their trust in the Party and State’s concern for their well-being.
