Right from the early days of summer, the Nậm Nèn commune Youth Union launched activities for children with the “Safe Summer” Contest, featuring 6 teams from villages across the commune. In a joyful, lively atmosphere, teams competed across 3 parts: “Talented Children,” “Wise Children,” and “Uniting Efforts.” Each section brought a distinct color, as “Talented Children” provided an opportunity for kids to display aptitudes and confidence, “Wise Children” helped consolidate knowledge, and “Uniting Efforts” emphasized solidarity, coordination capacity, and situation handling.
Through the contest, knowledge regarding accident, injury, and drowning prevention alongside safety risks was conveyed in a close, memorable manner, allowing children to learn through games, questions, and specific situations instead of dry dissemination lectures.
Thào A Hùng from Lùng Thàng 1 village shared that the contest served as an occasion for children to exchange, learn, and elevate self-protection knowledge and skills, helping him and his friends better understand how to prevent injuries, drowning, and potential risks during the summer.
While Nậm Nèn selected a contest format to inspire excitement in children, in Mường Tùng commune, children’s forums became spaces for young ones to voice their opinions. Right from early June, the Mường Tùng commune Youth Union coordinated with the commune People’s Committee to organize a children’s forum with broad participation, offering an occasion for children to express aspirations boldly and share issues of concern such as study, recreation, child protection, and essential life skills.
The atmosphere at the forum was open and friendly, with local leaders and functional sectors listening, exchanging, and answering children’s questions directly, through which children acquired knowledge while sensing care and companionship from families, schools, and society, making voicing their thoughts a memorable experience.
In Pa Ham commune, summer activities unfolded vibrantly across 4 villages: Pa Ham, Mường Anh, Huổi Bon, and Huổi Cang. The summer activity program integrating child violence and abuse prevention dissemination attracted 320 children alongside numerous parents.
Collective games and exchange activities were organized alongside child rights and violence prevention dissemination, allowing children to play while equipping necessary skills to recognize and prevent safety risks.
Lò Văn Toản, Secretary of the Pa Ham commune Youth Union, noted that summer activities not only build a healthy playground for children, but also elevate awareness among children and parents regarding child rights, self-protection skills, and abuse prevention, promoting the Youth Union’s role in caring for, protecting, and educating youth and children.
Throughout the summer, playgrounds for children across localities continue being organized in formats suited to grassroots practical conditions, with contests, forums, and community sessions all aiming toward a common goal of ensuring children enjoy a safe, joyful, and rewarding summer, turning summer for Điện Biên children into a journey of experiencing, learning, and growing amid community companionship.
