Love red envelopes - A warm Tết for Children

ĐBP - In the days leading up to the 2026 Lunar New Year (Tết), at the Điện Biên provincial General Social Protection Center, the spring atmosphere manifests in a very unique way.

It is not through fireworks or brilliant peach branches, but rather through naive drawings, small hands folding each red envelope, and the simple joy of the children knowing they are contributing to a warmer Tết for their “common home.”

Xài, the youngest member of the center, had his portrait drawn by teachers and older children, and the painting was printed on the Tết red envelopes.

The “Love Red Envelopes - Tết for Children” activity was implemented during the preparations for the new year with the direct participation of the children living at the center. They enthusiastically sketched spring in their own way. Some paintings featured pink ban flowers blooming amidst the mountains and forests, while others depicted the common home with innocent and warm smiles. Each painting, though the lines may be clumsy, contained the clear faith and dreams of childhood.

Mùa Thị Sinh, one of the children directly involved in drawing, shared that the sessions of drawing and coloring together brought her a lot of joy. “Sitting with my brothers and sisters in the center, each drawing a picture according to their own preference, makes me very happy. Knowing that our drawings were selected to be printed on red envelopes to raise funds and generate income for the center, I find this activity even more meaningful and feel proud of doing something useful,” Sinh said.

Equally excited, Phá Thị Tấu stated that she liked participating in all stages of the activity, from drawing and coloring to folding and bagging the red envelopes. Tấu shared: “I like participating in every activity. Drawing allows me to be creative, and folding and packaging the envelopes is done with everyone, which brings a lot of laughter and joy.”

The children participate in packaging the red envelopes.

From dozens of created paintings, the center selected 10 typical and most suitable designs to design and print into a unique set of red envelopes to be sold during this Tết preparation. Each envelope is a “small world”: featuring the characteristic ban flowers of the Điện Biên mountains, the innocent smiles of children, and simple dreams of a full and peaceful life. For the buyers, these are not just Tết red envelopes, but a set of drawings with special spiritual value; for the children, it is proof that their voices and emotions are heard and cherished.

Currently, the provincial General Social Protection Center is nurturing 79 children in special circumstances who lack a source of support, coming from many different areas in the province, mostly from highland and border communes. They come to the center with different stories and circumstances, but they all need to be loved and shielded. Therefore, the activity of making Tết red envelopes is not only aimed at meeting material needs but also contributes to compensating for their spiritual lives, helping them feel the warmth of the community more clearly.

Sharing the meaning and goals of the activity, Hoàng Thị Thúy Nga, the Deputy Head of the Professional Department of the provincial General Social Protection Center, said: “The money collected from selling red envelopes is raised into a fund to support the lives and organize meaningful activities for the children living at the center. All the money collected from the sale of red envelopes will be managed according to specific operating regulations, ensuring it is used for the right purposes and meets the practical needs of the children.”

Center officials along with the children pack the red envelopes.

According to Nga, the money from the Red Envelope Fund is expected to be used to supplement living expenses, purchase necessary items for daily life, and equip additional devices and supplies for cultural, artistic, sports, and game activities to create a comprehensive development environment for the children. It will also be used to organize sightseeing trips and picnics to improve the children’s spiritual lives. Through this activity, the children not only enjoy a fuller Tết but also participate directly in the process of creating value, thereby becoming more confident and proactive in life.

To generate sources for the fund, the center designed and issued about 5,000 red envelopes in the first batch, introducing them widely on social media platforms. The spread of the activity received a lot of attention, sharing, and support from the community; the number of red envelopes was quickly sold out, and the center had to continue ordering more prints to meet the demand. Each red envelope sold carries not only material value but also the companionship and sharing of society toward children in special circumstances.

“Love Red Envelopes - Tết for Children” is therefore not simply a fundraising activity for Tết, but a journey connecting hearts. Each red envelope given is a spring wish and a silent encouragement sent to the children growing up in the common home. Amidst the spring colors returning to all roads, the red envelopes carrying children’s drawings have contributed to lighting the faith in a full, warm, and love-filled Tết for the 79 children in special circumstances being cared for and nurtured at the center.
