This year’s National Day holiday lasts four days, giving people more time for gatherings, celebrations, and cultural activities. Some families chose to stay home together, watching the grand military parade live from Hà Nội on television. Others visited historical relics such as the Điện Biên Phủ Victory Museum, Hill A1, and the Victory Monument, taking commemorative photos and enjoying the festive vibe. In many villages, neighbors gathered for warm meals to celebrate “The Independence Festival” in the spirit of unity. Meanwhile, many Điện Biên natives returned to Hà Nội to join the joyful crowds at Ba Đình Square, where President Hồ Chí Minh once read the Declaration of Independence.

At the heart of the province, Điện Biên Phủ ward, the celebration became even more vibrant. Streets were filled with colorful flags and flowers, historical sites seemed to shine brighter than ever, and the bustling flow of people and vehicles created an atmosphere of joy and pride.
Among the visitors, Nguyễn Văn Dân from Bắc Giang expressed his excitement: “This is my first time in Điện Biên, and it happens to be on such a special day. Everywhere I go, I see the red flag with the golden star flying proudly. It fills me with pride and an indescribable sense of honor. To stand on this historic land on National Day is truly a meaningful experience.”

For local people, the Independence Festival has long been a sacred tradition. From the early morning, families such as Mùa A Và’s in Hin Phon Hamlet, Núa Ngam Commune, prepared to “head downtown.” Despite the long, difficult journey, they visited Keo Lôm fair, then traveled to the city to tour the Điện Biên Phủ Victory Museum and other relics. “Every year, no matter how busy we are, we always make time to join the Independence celebration. It is like a family tradition, a great source of joy. This year’s 80th anniversary is especially meaningful,” he shared.

Similarly, Vàng A Thếnh from Nà Pen hamlet, Mường Phăng commune, began his day early to take part in cultural and sporting events at the Victory Monument square. For him, National Day is not only about celebration but also a moment to witness his homeland’s progress through new roads and modern infrastructure. “To live in peace and see my homeland develop is a great happiness,” he said emotionally.

Beyond the city center, mountain communes and remote villages also hosted vibrant cultural events: traditional games like pao throwing, stick pushing, and crossbow shooting; dances with khèn and pí flutes; and the circle dance of solidarity. These activities created a colorful cultural mosaic, strengthening community bonds and enriching spiritual life.
